IVF Fail

We've been TTC for many years, aged 39 now. We did 6 IUI attempts over the last year and just did our first IVF cycle with retrieval last week. 30 eggs were retrieved, 17 were mature enough for fertilization, 11 fertilized. We just found out yesterday that ALL of them arrested and did not develop. To say we are devastated is an understatement. The doctor says to try again, start metformin and do a low carb diet. Any other suggestions? I've combed the board and the internet for more, but I'm just so lost right now.

So sorry. Such disappointment after good retrieval numbers. My provider also prescribed a low carb diet prior to IVF and showed research to support it. I was put on Metformin for my FET after a failed fresh transfer, but not during retrieval stage. 

Any clue as to why they arrested? If it was egg quality, my clinic had me take CoQ10, Vitamin D and Vitamin E.
