Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o Dec 4

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (if you've been):

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched):

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):

How are things going?:

Any questions?:

GTKY: What was the last movie you saw in theaters?

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o Dec 4

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): clotting and immune issues among some other things

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): no repeat testing until after the new year

How are things going?: things are fine. our timing was not great other than sex on the day of my positive OPK. I have dotted CH on FF so I'm not entirely sure when O was. I hate not knowing when to expect AF! This week of work should be less hectic compared to last week so I'm happy about that. I also still have some Christmas shopping to do so there's panic about that! :#

Any questions?: tips on helping bruises heal? have I asked this already? :D

GTKY: What was the last movie you saw in theaters? omg I couldn't even tell you. we rarely went out to the movies even before covid. If I had to guess the last movie we saw in theaters was a Tom Cruise movie :joy:

Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained infertility, got my subclinical hypothyroidism diagnosis today

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): treating while testing.

How are things going?: rocky. The clinic never put in a prescription for my trigger shot and at my appointment yesterday I was told to administer it today we were both shocked that i didnt get it. Between finding a pharmacy that accepts my insurance, the np not giving the full prescription, and insurance delays, I had to pay fully out of pocket today to have it overnighted to take tomorrow. I was in a panic all last night thinking I was out this cycle but I got a phone call from the clinic this morning and I'm still okay if I take it as soon as it's delivered. I alao got the hypothyroidism diagnosis so I start meds tomorrow.

Any questions?: I hate needles....  how bad is the Ovidrel shot?

GTKY: What was the last movie you saw in theaters?
Spiderman into the spiderverse. I'm not big on movie theaters.
  • @ATolentino89 I also hate needles but honestly the Ovidrel wasn't that bad! The fear, anticipation, and me watching that how to video 4 times in front of the sink ended up being worse than the actual needle. I had insurance and delivery issues too and was told I need to take it asap when I get it so I couldn't even wait til DH got home from work to help
    Me: 28 | Him: 31

    BFP: 02/09/17
    FTM | EDD: 10/13/17

    Pregnancy Ticker
    Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • @inthewoods23 If you catch the injury early enough, a cold compress can make a bruise less bad by reducing blood flow to the area.

@ATolentino89 I’m so sorry for all the bureaucratic headache, that sounds crazy stressful. FX for a smooth and timely delivery today!!

    Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): PGT-M test development

How are things going?: Making progress! Met with a genetic counselor from the lab this morning and I really like her. They’re sending out cheek swab kits ASAP, and once we’ve got them all done and returned we’re looking at an 8-week test development timeline. February 2024 retrieval looks uncertain but not impossible based on my clinic’s IVF schedule. Worst case is March 2024. Not ideal, but nothing in this process really seems to be, does it?

I’m sure there will be plenty of frustration and impatience in the months ahead. For the moment, though, I’m trying to just appreciate the fact that there are actual goalposts in sight!

Any questions?: Has anyone tried acupuncture for infertility? If so, did you feel like it helped (even if just placebo effect and/or peace of mind)?

GTKY: What was the last movie you saw in theaters? CatVideoFest 2020 😺 If you like cats—or just silly cat videos—it’s a lot of fun and for a great cause. www.catvideofest.com/where-to-watch

  • @aisleofviewtwo I think acupuncture could bring peace of mind. Self care and all

I am frustrated and confused. I got my trigger shot and decided to take an opk for s#!ts while I waited for it to come to room temp and it was positive. So I messaged the clinic and was told to "save the trigger". The NP was not the one who ordered the shot and she spoke to a doctor who wasn't mine. I have been doing this for 4 years.... I have turned an opk before and not gotten pregnant. Many times. Like, this is not a benched cycle. I want to throw everything at it.
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): ama, RPL, APS

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched):

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): we were supposed to be doing a medicated cycle but insurance couldn’t figure out getting it to me.

How are things going?: Tw loss spoiler

I had a chemical last week- this is our fourth loss in 2023. Just ugh

Also. A skunk sprayed our house and getting the smell out has been AWFUL!

    Any questions?:

GTKY: What was the last movie you saw in theaters? Jungle cruise at the drive in a few years ago! I don’t like actual movie theaters. Sensory overload.

  • @ATolentino89 I've heard you shouldn't massage bruises. I've done it lightly so we'll see if that helps! Did things get cleared up for you with the trigger shot? I haven't had to do a trigger for some years but it was never terrible. If it helps, have YH do it for you. Does yours need to be done sub-Q or IM? Mine was IM so I had to twist to reach the area above the butt. It goes in easy, unlike PIO :#

@aisleofviewtwo The bruises are from my injections so I really should be applying cold right away. I thought I would have a pretty bad one from my injection yesterday but I have nothing more than a dot at the injection site with a very light bruise around it after applying a cold pack. I guess I just shouldn't rush things! I'm excited you have the ball rolling on the genetic testing! The waiting game will suck, but getting answers will be well worth it.

@charmedlifex3 I'm so sorry for your loss. What is with y'alls insurances and not being timely?? sheesh. I hope you can get the skunk smell out soon! What an awful thing to deal with.

@ATolentino89 looking back on my TI cycles and I did my trigger shot based on US, but also had a + OPK that day and the day after.  It works with your body, I really don’t think it’s correct to hold the trigger shot because of an OPK+.

  • @virginiaham that's what I thought. Yet I was told to hold off. This cycle was more of a "let's just see what happens" while they run tests and figure it out.
  • @charmedlifex3 I’m so sorry for your loss—what a year you’ve had. I remain impressed by your resilience as you navigate these setbacks. I hope you’re making space for all the feelings and taking care of yourself 💛

@ATolentino89 I get that clinic schedules are such that it’s not always feasible to speak with your assigned doctor and/or nurse, but it’s so frustrating to feel shuttled around and like you’re getting conflicting instructions! FX this cycle yields some useful insights despite the weirdness around the trigger!
