Re: Product Spotlight: Strollers

  • I really love my Mockingbird stroller (also sold at Target). It was important to me that I buy one that could adapt to a double stroller (they also have a single only) since we were pretty sure we would try for a second. I like that as a double stroller it will still fit through doorways and such. It also has a ride on board for purchase which we can get when my daughter gets a little older, which I think will be good. Having a big basket on the bottom was also really important to me, and it had to be able to fit in the trunk of our compact car.

I was going to do a pros and cons list but I didn't have many cons, so instead I will link to this review, which I think does a really good job of summarizing what I like about it better than I could: https://www.lucieslist.com/review/mockingbird-stroller-review/

We also have a travel stroller that is great for on the go: The Contours Bitsy Elite Stroller. We mostly use it when actually travelling (we travel domestically a good amount), through in theory it can be helpful for when we need something smaller around the city. In other places, a small stroller like this might be sufficient, but you loose out on things like storage space and suspension/ability to go over lots of terrains (we walk our daughter to and from daycare every day so having the big stroller is worth it). I found it much harder to choose a travel stroller. I didn't want something too expensive (many that met my other wants were quite pricey for something I only planned to use when travelling), I wanted something that could be put in a carry on bin if needed (though we've always checked or gate checked), and ideally could be worn as a backpack or I could find a backpack bag that it would fit in. I also wanted the basket to be big enough to at least fit a diaper bag (which made some of the smallest ones not an option) and I really wanted a one handed close and open. When this one went on sale at Target + I had a coupon from their car seat trade in event, it made it the best deal out there for me.

  • We have the Graco fast action jogger stroller and I really like it! The basket can hold quite a lot which was handy for when I wanted to walk to get groceries. My son will be 19 months when this baby is born and I am looking at getting the Graco ready to grow double stroller mainly because it will work with my car seat. Has anyone used it?

I’d love to get a mockingbird but I don’t think they are sold in Canada :(
  • We had a cheap Chicco stroller that we used with my older 2. It got the job done, but it wasn't great.

For this baby, I want a stroller that has a bassinet attachment since we're skipping the infant car seat. I'm probably going with the Uppababy Cruz or Vista. They are $$$$, but I want something with good wheels since our neighborhood has a bumpy road. I've been keeping my eye on FB Marketplace and goodbuygear.com because I want to save some money and buy secondhand.

  • @saltedcaramel518 I know I already raved about the Mockingbird, but just adding that they also have a bassinet attachment and good wheels. You can see one in person at Target (not the bassinet attachment, but to get a feel for the stroller itself and wheels, etc). Totally understand wanting a specific brand though!
  • I’m looking into a Maxi Cosi travel system! It’s not too expensive but I think it will probably get the job done. If anyone has any experience with the brand I would love to hear!
  • I had a baby trend jogger with my first and it’s one of just a handful of items I actually saved for 8 years. Well worth storing it! It’s still my favorite stroller.

Since had a stroller already, we registered for the babytrend expedition wagon with DS2 and we use the HECK out of that thing. It’s actually my go-to and I hardly use the jogger anymore. I’ll say the jogger was great at Disney World since they don’t allow our wagon.

With DS3 on the way a double stroller is appealing, but I think we’re going to skip that idea and go straight for the 4-seat wagon. I had a close comparison between the keenz xc+ and the wonderfold w4 luxe, but ultimately the W4 Luxe won out. (Remember a month ago when I said this was our last and it was sinking in….) I can’t be taken seriously apparently, because baby #4 sounds like a good idea already.

We have both the single BOB Revolutionary Flex and the double BOB Revolutionary Flex Duallie jogging strollers. Honestly, I think these are the king of jogging strollers; I absolutely looove them!! My Hubby blessed me with them, and we have a couple accessories including the rain/wind covers which are fantastic. I stay at home with our littles (ages 2, 4, and 7, + baby on the way) and homeschool so we are always on the go exploring parks, taking long daily walks, etc. and I always have one of the BOB strollers with us depending on our need for the day. The strollers have great storage compartments, XL canopies to keep sun off baby, seats that sit up straight or almost fully recline, adjustable handlebar (great for allowing littles to push the stroller themselves as they get older), and the list goes on. Definitely a smooth ride with great suspension. We live in the Midwest and even when the weather is snowy and cold or rainy, I throw the wind cover on the stroller and we get out for our walk! The strollers fold-up but a con is that they are big even when folded. They take up A LOT of trunk space but I make it work for our adventures! If your need is a jogging stroller, check out a BOB!

For around town shopping/errands and vacations we have a much smaller Britax B-Lively stroller that we keep in our vehicle on a regular basis. It's nice to have and works great for those needs!

*I should add that baby needs to be older to be placed in a BOB jogging stroller. I've put each of my littles in starting at 6 months at full recline and with head/neck support. They've done great. You can use the car seat attachment with an infant car seat if you wish. That never appealed to me as I love to put my babies in a carrier especially during those first 6 tender months, even on walks/adventures. But every Mama's needs are different and that is ok! Just wanted to share that!
  • I've personally used these baby bottles and they're great for budget conscious mothers. Pretty Baby Brand baby bottles only $9.95 for 4 pack! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BD59H422?ref=myi_title_dp
  • I have the Babyzen Yoyo for travel. I like that it folds up easily and fits into an airplane’s overhead compartment. My husband is from Europe so we’ll use it a lot when we go to visit his family. A family I nannied for years ago had one and I loved it but not for daily use since the storage basket is so small. I ended up getting the Uppababy Vista V2 for daily use. It’s an incredibly smooth ride with an excellent amount of storage but it’s too large to be very practical for taking the stroller anywhere by car. It does fold up and fit in the trunk but it leaves little room for anything else so we may be using the Yoyo more than originally expected. I was able to find both second hand in great condition and for about $300 each, a very decent price considering how pricey they can be. Knowing how big the Uppababy stroller is, I’d probably go for the Uppababy Cruz or a Maxi Cosi if I had to do it all over again.
