  • EDD/Weeks + days: 39 Weeks, 2 Days

Baby is the size of a(n): Pumpkin or Cabbage Patch Kid

Upcoming appointments: Induction today at noon!

How are you feeling? Excited and terrified! I am so ready to meet this little girl (hopefully today) but feel completely unprepared for this whole birthing process. I was so worried about getting ready for her that I never looked into any breathing or pushing exercises/techniques.  Guess we'll just have to see how it goes.

Raves/Rants: I had a whole list of last minute things to get done this weekend and I feel like we only did about half of them which is also attributing to my anxiety. We got the car seat in my husband's car, but not mine (and mine is the carrier/stroller one, his is a convertible one), didn't put up any of the wall decorations (I know this isn't super important, but we have a newborn photographer coming (tentatively) next Monday and she is doing photos in there), got the blinds in but not the curtains... We're definitely prepared enough for her to come home, but it's the little things I really wanted to do that we missed.

Questions: I put this in the questions thread, but postpartum belly bands/trainer things...are they worth it? I keep seeing them advertised and have debated getting one to help with healing and all, but don't know if they really help.

Baby is the size of a(n): Still a full-term baby, but now with chubbier cheeks (I hope <3

Upcoming appointments: At my last appointment all I had was an NST that said I had "irregular uterine activity", which I can feel myself and that my cervix is soft but closed, which I can also feel myself. I had to sit there for 2 hours to get that info, so I didn't schedule my next appointment until the 15th, when I'll be 39+1 and hopefully NOT pregnant ;) In which case... no more appointments!

How are you feeling? The skin on my belly hurts so much. It's red and feels like it's burning. I am out. of. space. I've also been having regular contractions about every 20-30 minutes for 2 days, but painless and only in my lower abdomen. Seems this is probably baby sinking and the cervix ripening. So I am feeling READY. Please get this baby OUT.

Raves/Rants: I already ranted and raved in the feelings section. Mama done. Baby oooout.

Upcoming appointments: 38 week standard appt 12/7

How are you feeling? Keep getting on and off lower cramping and back aches. Waking up every 3 hours so feeling like my body wants me ready for a newborn! Feeling less tired but my pelvis gets so sore if I stand or walk too much.  Spending a lot of time on the birth ball hoping this little guy keeps pressure on my cervix.  Positive news I was negative for Group B Strep which was causing me a lot of anxiety (not sure why it would have been fine either way).

Raves/Rants: my mom has been tracking my location and checking in constantly to see if I am in labor. I keep telling her to knock it off but she’s just so excited for her first grandson. The problem is that it keeps making me hopeful that I’ll go into labor soon… which is unlikely since this is my first. Just so so ready to meet this little guy!

Questions: Last week I was told I was 1cm dilated and baby was “very nice and low” no notes listed for how effaced I was. Do your doctors tell you that when you get checked? Probably will opt out of getting checked moving forward but curious if my doctor is the standard or not.

@booksandicecream are you self checking your cervix? Or just going off of general feel of your pelvis?

Upcoming appointments: Final check up  on Wednesday

How are you feeling? I feel good, just really really pregnant. It feels like the baby is running out of room. Looking forward to meeting her!

    Raves/Rants: none really

    Questions: none
  • LOVING these baby updates!!! <3 Congratulations, mamas! <3

@benderisgreat12-23 I checked my own cervix. I asked the OB on Fri and after she told me everything she felt, I felt it for myself. It's not like I'm offering my midwifery services anytime soon ;) but I hope I'll be able to tell if things start opening.

Upcoming appointments: had an appointment 2 days ago where we discussed to do a membrane sweep at 39 weeks. My midwife has not done a cervical check yet so hoping by next week I’m dilated a little to be able to get the membrane sweep.

How are you feeling? Physically I feel great. I feel like Benjamin Button. These last 4 weeks have been a breeze, minimal discomfort, still weight training 4 days a week and walking 6 miles a day. I have a few more work shifts left as well (Emergency Room Nurse) unless he comes. Mentally slightly anxious since my OB asked me about scheduling an induction and that is not what I want. I do not want Pictocin. So getting a little anxious about him coming before we HAVE to do something.

    Raves/Rants:

Questions: Has anyone had a successful membrane sweep ? Or know if anyone that did? I know you can get multiple sweeps if the first one doesn’t work.

@ayspilks27 I’ve read that membrane sweeps tend to work best when your cervix is already pretty soft. This is my first pregnancy so I don’t have any real experience but just in my reading most of it says it truly depends on how “ripe” your cervix is. I will definitely considered it at 38/39 weeks given I’m opposing pitocin hardcore with my midwife
  • @mayghen18 I’m going to finally let my midwife check me on Tuesday at my 39w1day appointment to see where I’m at and hopefully get a membrane sweep to see if that will stimulate anything. I have absolutely no discomfort or progressions towards labor (things I’ve read online) but I know that can change over night
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 37 weeks + 1 day

Baby is the size of a(n): Apple Pie

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: Blue!

Upcoming appointments: I had my regular weekly appointment yesterday. I had the GBS swab test done, and it was fine. I had to have blood drawn because my iron levels were a little low. I will hear back from the doctor today if I will need an iron transfusion or if I need to start taking an iron supplement. My next appointment is a regular weekly next Thursday. I also have a lactation consultation.

How are you feeling? I'm worried about my iron level now because I really do not want to have to get an iron transfusion. I'm also ready for baby to come. It's so exciting and fun seeing all of the baby announcements, but it also makes me even more ready for baby to be here! I still have a couple more weeks though.

Raves/Rants: I have a lot of stuff to get done this weekend -- packing hospital bags, installing car set, Christmas gift wrapping and just final touches. After this weekend, I really just want to have everything done and be able to rest without having stuff on my to-do list.

Questions: How are all of the new mamas doing? How are all of the still pregnant mamas feeling?
  • @foreverhughes4123 I'm sorry to hear about your iron levels. When they are low it can make you feel so awful! I started taking an iron supplement post partum because birth wrecked me. I think you'll feel better if you do take iron or get the infusion. It'll make postpartum easier.

  • Hey I’m excited to hear about how it all went and see an announcement! It seems like it will be extra fun to start hearing about it’s gone for everyone after such a long haul! It feels like both very recently and FOREVER ago that we were talking about 1st trimester sickness and 12 week ultrasounds! Woohoo almost done!!
