Weekly Check-In 11/13

Re: Weekly Check-In 11/13

  • My first delivery was a c section back in 2012 - I dislocated my knee really bad at 32 weeks and had a really hard time recovering from that so we scheduled a c section at 39 weeks. Honestly all went as well as it could have, it’s a strange experience for sure but I had no complications. My recovery just sucked because I was on crutches because of my knee so all around my body was just going through it. With my second pregnancy in 2014, I was still having issues with my knee and didn’t feel like I’d be able to have full range of motion to be able to do a vaginal birth. We did a scheduled c section again at 39 weeks, no complications. It was nice knowing what to expect, and my recovery was significantly easier. It’s been 9 years since then, and we have scheduled another c section for this baby. Truthfully the thing I’m most anxious about is just the pain meds and anesthesia. I am VERY sensitive to heavy meds (either sleeping or puking basically) and I get a lot of anxiety about puking after having a c section. I didn’t get sick with the other two, but I almost did with my last one. They had used the anti nausea things behind your ear instead of IV meds - lesson learned! All this to say - it’s possible to have good experiences with c sections! Everyone is different of course, just wanted to share for anyone who is feeling scared/conflicted on what to do.

  • @ashleykad1281 Thanks so much for your insight! I honestly think my biggest concern with the c-section is healing and dealing with 2 of our dogs.  I know my husband and other family/friends will help with taking care of them, but they're also very excitable and friendly - they always jump on me and they sleep with us (more like on us) so I worry about them jumping on me with an incision like that.
  • @dmcg17 SAME with the dog situation! I have a gigantic dog who is 135 lbs (chocolate lab/bloodhound mix) and he is very very sweet..he just thinks he’s 20 lbs so I’m nervous as well. Thankfully he doesn’t get up on the bed or anything, but he literally has bear paws lol. Hoping our fur babies are able to sense that we need some space to recover and not be all over us!!!!
