How are you feeling? Feeling a lot more calm this week because I worked my butt off this weekend in the nursery while my husband was at his parents' helping them with renovations. We officially have a crib, dresser, glider, and lamps in the nursery, so it actually looks at least somewhat ready for a baby! We still have to clean some stuff out (we left one litter box in there while we transition the cats to a different room) and I'm excited to start putting up decorations, but I feel like we're in a decent place. We may play around with the layout a bit too before hanging anything up, but at least it's together and she'll have someplace to sleep if she decides to make her debut early!
Raves/Rants: I think my rave is all in how I'm feeling, haha. I'm just ready to start sorting through stuff we got from the shower and doing/putting away all her laundry.
Questions: Any ideas for this week's panic thread on Thursday?
Baby is the size of a(n): Squash, or combined weight of two ukuleles (how do they come up with these?)
Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💙
Upcoming appointments: 36 week appt next
How are you feeling?: Jumble of nerves and excitement. Can't believe he's coming soon -- feels like he was a lil poppy seed two seconds ago. Husband has gone into full nesting mode and it's very cute to watch.
Raves/Rants: I had a mini freak out last night because I realized that baby boy's been hiccuping a lot, and there are all these conflicting articles online about whether that's super healthy, or if it's actually concerning this late in the game. Then I realize all the scary articles are based on studies of sheep. Now I feel like a sheep. Ugh
Questions: How are y'all doing on breathing exercises? I haven't practiced nearly enough and I'm starting to get nervous about that 😭
How are you feeling? Less stress/less anxiety now that the in laws are back at their house.
Raves/Rants: Raves - got almost all the items from our gift registry, bought a few things for postpartum recovery. Still feeling behind because the nursery is still not done (priming and painting hopefully this week) but at least we have our essentials.
Rants - hip pain is not as bad while I sleep but carpal tunnel has reared its ugly head. My hands are swollen, stiff and very painful.
Questions: none at the moment
@dmcg17 hmmm what about postpartum recovery recommendations? Will need help getting feedback from STM. I feel underprepared for what the two+ weeks post delivery is going to be like. Read books/articles to prepare but curious to hear what works/didn’t work.
Upcoming appointments: 11/13, normal checkup and beginning of biweekly appointments
How are you feeling? More tired now and then. I used to crash at just 2ish pm and now it also hits me around 6/7pm. More periods of nesting, trying to do some clothes decluttering and organization in my own bedroom in order to do a deep clean of it since baby will stay there for several months. All this while trying to get ready for our babymoon/5 yr wedding anniversary trip and then the hustle bustle of holidays! Going through my first son's baby clothes to get an idea of what we need since family has started asking if they can get us anything and we never had a sprinkle, but still need a few things we didn't get the first time around.
Raves/Rants: none atm
Questions: anybody getting their Christmas decorations up earlier than normal with babies all due around the holidays? We were supposed to start last weekend, but we celebrated my husband's and mom's bday, so we'll be trying to start when we get back from our babymoon. I feel like we need to get our Christmas shopping done really early too.
@knottie0801eb66e422e7eb the best breathing exercise that helped me for my first labor and delivery was taught in the class I took. You inhale through your nose to the count of 4 and exhale through your mouth to the count of 4. Having a short number goal to get to made it simple and it's just the right amount of oxygen getting to your brain and lungs so you don't hyperventilate. Visualize the contractions as a wave, rising, cresting, falling, too.
@jordieburd my husband wants to get a head start on Christmas decorations but I’m making him finish priming and painting the nursery first! I want to put Christmas decorations up now but I feel like I still have too much to prepare for baby 😭
We (and by we I mean my husband lol) put up Halloween decorations up real late this year (week before) and we still haven’t taken them down 😂
@jordieburd I was actually thinking about doing Christmas decorations early this year (we usually do the day after Thanksgiving) since she potentially coming early, but we have so much baby stuff to put away/organize AND we're hosting Thanksgiving, so it may just have to wait. I'd really like them to be up before she gets here since we have a newborn photographer coming to the house and it would be great to get Christmas photos to do a Christmas card/birth announcement...but we'll see! @ahrob135 Our Halloween decorations are still up too! I have a mix of Halloween/general fall (the fall I leave up for Thanksgiving) and I just haven't had the time to wash and pack up all the Halloween stuff yet. I'm hoping to get to that sometime this week/weekend, but if people have to look at witches and jack-o-lanterns around my house at Thanksgiving this year, they can deal with it. 😂
@jordieburd I would love to get Christmas decor up early because I know I’ll be exhausted as we get further into December, but I’m putting all the energy I have into getting baby stuff setup and organized. I will probably have fall decor up until after thanksgiving.
Upcoming appointments: Nov 8 check up, starting prenatal class that day too
How are you feeling? Generally pretty good until it's time to go to bed. I just can't get comfortable. I have every spare pillow in the house propping every part of my body, but I can't sleep for any longer than a couple of hours at a time. I wake up for so many reasons and struggle to get back to sleep. Once my brain starts going that's it I'm awake!
Raves/Rants: we had our baby shower on the weekend. It was so nice to see so many people we haven't seen in awhile. We got a bunch of beautiful things, I feel so greatful for all the love and support!
@jordieburd I would like to put up our decorations early too. Usually we have to wait until after my husband's birthday on Dec 10th, there's no way that's happening this year lol. I'm so tired throughout the day and he is so busy with work hopefully we find time to at least get the tree up. Everything else might have to stay packed away. I'm thinking the more we put up the more we will have to take down after the baby is born, and I will likely be even less motivated then!
Upcoming appointments: We had one yesterday. I've been having contractions here and there and the OB offered me steroids for baby's lungs. She didn't push it super hard, so I told her I would like to think about it. Her perspective was she doesn't have a crystal ball and baby may be trying to come earlier than our c-section date. She said the shots won't negatively hurt baby at all. Next appointment is in two weeks and will be the last one before baby arrives!!
How are you feeling: less depressed this week. I am absolutely wiped though. Now with time change, I feel like I could sleep all day. 😴 I'm so thankful I'm not working because I have been taking it REALLY easy. Plus it helps keep the contractions down. I joke that I have a 4-5 hr wake window!
Raves and rants: I'm annoyed with the hubs. I've given him a very short list of things I need him to bring up from the basement (rocking chair, pack and play. . . Things I don't need to be lugging up the stairs lol) and he's yet to do them 😡. I love this man and he is such a good person, but if he doesn't get on these things soon, I might throttle him lol
Christmas decorations!!! Yes!! We've started putting some up. We decorated the outside of the house this week because the weather has been nice. Hate doing that when it's cold. Also set up our mini-trees. My son wants to do the rest of it TODAY but unless my husband can carry the boxes up, it'll have to wait. I can only do so many trips up and down the stairs!
Also I'm really proud of myself. I always make Thanksgiving from scratch but my husband has been begging me to take it easy this year. So I ordered a full meal from a local restaurant! Their food is always delicious. I'm excited to enjoy the day and not be on my feet the entire time.

Baby is the size of a(n): baby is as tall as 8 small baby food jars stacked...or estimated at 6lb 2oz from today's growth scan!!
Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💚💚💚💚 I am in such suspense!!!
Upcoming appointments: I had a scan and nst today, will have another in two days along with the cardiologist and then Monday, and rinse and repeat
How are you feeling? Good days and bad days! Last week I was falling apart all the time, this week, I feel more strong! Still tired and taking it easy but definitely not rock bottom as I've been most of this pregnancy! I've started feeling really weird sensations in my pelvis-it makes me stop whatever I'm doing, but it's not painful, just uncomfortable. Not contractions. I'm not sure what it is, but makes me hope that my body is preparing for labor!
Raves/Rants: I've yet to pack my hospital bag. I KNOW. the doctor, my husband, my sister all said it's not hard to pack, and to just pack it, but I've got a serious mind block against it. I also haven't been feeling any 'nesting' urges at all. My apartment looks same as ever, not baby ready at all, but I have no desire or need to do anything about it... I'm beginning to think something is really wrong with me haha.
Also, rave: had an appointment today where the doctor was very happy with baby's size and progress, usually hypertension moms can have smaller babies and are induced at this point, but my DR is ready to push until my due date! I'm so so grateful that baby will have more time to grow and avoid any complications related to the hypertension!
Questions: when to leave work I've been pushing through work this whole pregnancy, and last week, I was just about finished and ready to quit. This week, I feel more capable, but wondering how long it'll last I can take leave early, but don't want to lose from after baby's born... Is it worth it to leave early? @stm???
@chelleylin Mine isn't packed either! I have a checklist pulled up on my computer for whenever I actually get around to it, but we've had so much going on with our business and trying to get furniture built that I haven't really thought about the bag.
@chelleylin did you find out whether your employer has antepartum benefits? Or do you have to use PTO if you leave early? I feel you on wanting to get up and quit (my patience has gone out the door lol). I’m a FTM but taking 4 weeks before my due date (I live in CA and it’s covered by State leave versus my employers leave benefits). I feel bad for leaving my colleagues with my work but between the long hours of sitting, carpal tunnel (typing on a computer all day doesn’t help!) and hip pain I’m ready to just mentally prepare for the baby.
@dmcg same, I've got the checklist, shared it with my husband, but ultimately I don't want him to have to rifle through my clothes when I can probably pack in five minutes... I do have to wash the baby clothes though
@ahrob135 I can take leave early, as disability, but it'll come off the balance from later. Also, the job protection will start as soon as I leave, so I'll be coming back earlier than I wanted to... But it may be worth it! Just appointments alone are getting hard to manage (3 7am appointments a week!!) Thankfully, project wise, I'm wrapping up a project, so it's not like I'll be leaving unfinished work. Pros of corporate, I guess
Upcoming appointments: I have a virtual meeting with the hospital midwife tomorrow to register. No idea why, as I'm high risk and have to separately register with the OB next week anyway. Which is one of 3 appointments next week. Things are rolling!
How are you feeling? Not great. Braxton Hicks are coming way more and that pubis symphysis pain I've been mentioning for months (here and to my doctor) has become debilitating (as expected - this is an injury from my last pregnancy). At this point I am unable to take my children to school/soccer or walk the dog. My husband has 2 more business trips in November and I don't know how I'll manage. I will ask the OB for crutches next week.
Raves/Rants: In addition to the above, baby is currently breech. If she doesn't flip by next week they will schedule a c-section. I have PTSD from my first c-section and there is NO WAY I can do that again. I am spending hours every day inverted, trying to coax her to flip. Despite being in a bad mental state, I did get an email from my last OB (who is an angel on this earth) and it just reminded me 1. nothing I have experienced in this pregnancy comes close to the trauma of last time, and 2. there are good people who truly care. Find the good people and you can do anything
How are you feeling? So tired and very little energy! I get so out of breath and feel like it’s so hard to bend down and just do things in general. It’s so frustrating because I have so many baby items to get organized, and I have zero energy to get it all done. I’m also feeling overwhelmed by how much stuff I still have to do. I know that I still have some time but it feels like I don’t have any time haha. I just want to stay in bed for a week and do nothing. Also, my boobs have been constantly sore this entire pregnancy. I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced that.
Raves/Rants: I used my belly band for the first time today, and it really worked to help with my lower back pain and aches in general. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think it would do much to help. I highly recommend!
Upcoming appointments: bp recheck tomorrow. Regular ob check next Thursday
How are you feeling? I’m feeling okay. Got a nasty cold this week that took me out this weekend. The carpal tunnel in my right hand is getting better or maybe I’m getting used to it 😂
Raves/Rants: went in for my check up today and my bp was 142/82. Really trying not to stress myself out and I’m hoping it’s elevated because of this sickness but you can’t control what happens you just adapt. They will check it again tomorrow and if it’s still high then the conversation of an induction at 37 to 38 weeks comes into play. Praying everything works out safely either way. Other than that we’re trying to get some last minute things together this weekend. My poor hubs caught my cold so he’s pushing through, other than that we will be okay!

How are you feeling? Feeling great overall, I continue to be surprised how easy this pregnancy has been for me since I was 25 the last time I was pregnant, which was 9 years ago. Definitely some aches and pains here and there but overall I am feeling good and still sleeping good which I know is a blessing. Did the last amazon order today for the last things we need, and her room is just about finished so I'm feeling a LOT more prepared than I did 2 weeks ago.
Raves/Rants: None!
Questions: Anyone else getting period-like cramps on and off, or sharp stomach pains that come and go (seemingly irregular)? I've been feeling this all day today which is not the norm for me. I put in a message to my Dr just in case, but it's been an uncomfortable day and I don't remember this with my other 2 kiddos....but it's also been forever lol.
@ashleykad1281 I'm pregnant with my 2nd and have been experiencing some period-like cramps every now and then. I haven't mentioned then to my OB yet bc they're so infrequent. I've definitely been having more braxton hicks or other contraction-like discomforts but again, so irregular I haven't brought it up. I hope your Dr messaged you back and it hasn't been something of concern!
