Weight Gain in first trimester

Hi ladies! I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing weight gain by 9 weeks. I’ve gained about 4 pounds. I’ve always struggled with my weight and was hoping not to gain too much my first trimester. I’m fighting feeling anxious and depressed about it. I want to eat healthy food but with my nausea, I’m only craving junk or comfort foods. The struggle is real! Anyone else in the same boat or any advice??

Re: Weight Gain in first trimester

  • Honestly my advice is not to sweat it for now. As long as you’re not living off cheese whiz, eat what you’re able to eat and worry about monitoring more closely once you’re through the nausea period. The weight will all even out in the end as long as you don’t go totally overboard, and it doesn’t sound like you are at all.

Tl/dr: Hide the scale for now and eat what settles your stomach. You can pull it back out and eat kale again once the nausea is over.

  • The fi at trimester can he so hard because of nausea and just eating whatever you can get down. This is my second pregnancy and I honestly have no idea what my weight before I got pregnant was. But I have a lot more body fat this time around and my muscle tone never really recovered after my first pregnancy and a traumatic first year of parenthood. So I feel like very pregnant at 10 weeks.
Also, a great book for pregnancy nutrition is Real Food for Pregnancy.
