What are you doing to prep for birth - exercises tea etc

Hi! I wanted to see if anyone is doing specific exercises to help with prepping for birth or pelvic floor? When do we start to drink pregnancy tea and if you started what are you drinking? Would love to know what everyone is doing to help them! I’m 26 weeks this week, how early is it good to start?

Re: What are you doing to prep for birth - exercises tea etc

  • Im a few weeks behind you (26 this week)but I've been doing prenatal stretching for my hips to prepare for birth so far and I totally plan on doing the tea & the dates, but I'm going to wait until 34-36 weeks to start. I'm only waiting because everything I've seen is starting then so I may be wrong!

  • My midwife said I can start the tea and dates as early as 28 weeks, but I have some travel coming up so I’m going to wait until I’m safely back at home before doing anything that could encourage labor. I’m very low risk for pre-term labor, but don’t want to take any chances!

As for exercises, I’ve been seeing a pelvic floor PT since about 20 weeks and have daily exercises and weekly workouts from her. Lots of glute and core with a focus on engaging your pelvic floor muscles throughout the movement.
  • Squats!!!
I’m on my third pregnancy and with each one my goal has been to get up to 300 squats per day in the third trimester.
I do a variety of versions ( regular, deep, wide, knees together) and I don’t do them all at once I split them up through the day.

I naturally have a strong core and pelvic floor but I’m certain that this helped with delivery.
With both previous children I pushed for only 15-20 minutes max.

I did do other pelvic flor exercises, tea, etc but these were the one thing I could feel the most effectively.
