1st Trimester

HCG 15.83 @ 3w6d

Hello,
For two days I had extreme fatigue so I took a HPT on 10/16 and it was positive. Went for blood work on 10/17 and my HCG was 15.83, Progesterone 12.79. The nurse called to tell me it's most likely a chemical pregnancy as by this time they want to see HCG in the 50-100 range.
I have taken three more HPT and all are the same color, which is boldly positive (the control line is still stronger than the test line in all three). I also went this morning to have blood drawn again and waiting on results.

I've read many boards where some people at this level have successful pregnancies, and others do not. I guess I don't really have a question as I know I have to wait for today's blood results, but after a missed miscarriage, a failed IUI, 2 failed egg retrievals due to bad eqq quality and 3 surgeries to repair my uterus from a previous C-section (my daughter is 4), I'm not wanting to tell friends or family so I'm just throwing my anxiety onto this post. I don't wish this waiting game on anyone and sympathize with all who go through it.

I hope you all have a good day.

Re: HCG 15.83 @ 3w6d

  • Results just posted to my portal and my HCG has gone up to 49.84. I am 4w1d.

Hoping this is great news and there is a sticky, healthy baby in there doing baby things.
  • Mine was also low. 12.44 for HCG but my progesterone was 34.53. I’m not sure what any of this means but my next appointment is Saturday. Hoping it doubles.

  • @thebadegg was this an embryo transfer or natural conception? Just wondering as the idea that your HCG is around 100 at 4w assumes the "average" ovulation day of CD14 and 28 day cycles so if your cycles are typically longer, it completely makes sense for your numbers to be lower if you're not actually 2 weeks post-ovulation.

Anyway, your number tripled so that's a great sign!

  • Wishing you the best. Hope you got good numbers today. (I’m not quite sure what they all mean either)
  • Hi @inthewoods23,
this was a natural conception (even though I was working with a fertility clinic. Was waiting for my day 1 to start meds for my 3rd egg retrieval).

I have PCOS so my periods are a little irregular, but I’d say they average 30-34ish days.

My period was 9/20 and I was using opk so my estimated ovulation day was 10/5 (cd16).
My blood test was 11dpo, so I was also a little surprised they wanted it to be 50-100. What you said is spot on what I was feeling. But when she told me it was probably a chemical it crushed me.

The number tripled but I still can’t seem to get excited. They have me coming back again Monday to retest.
  • @thebadegg FX for good numbers on Monday!
