(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: we will be team green again! It was the best surprise when we had our first 😊 I was convinced we were having a girl so I was shocked when he was a boy!
Upcoming Appointments: first appointment on October 13th, hopefully an ultrasound at the end of the month
How are you feeling?: good! Still shocked but excited. I am pretty tired and occasionally feel a little nauseous but otherwise can’t complain
Rants/Raves: Rant - told my mom the news yesterday and I couldn’t help but feel judged. We have an (almost) one year old and they will be about 19 months apart rave - my husband is already talking to my belly 🥹
Questions: nothing for now!
GTKY - what's your zodiac sign? Cancer! Although I don’t really concern myself with these things haha
EDD- June 6th also! So 5w+4 baby is the size of a pencil eraser today no clue about the sex yet, but I keep referring to them as a boy, so we'll see. first ultrasound is 10/27, were super excited!
Feeling- okay, definitely extra tired and moody, but most of my symptoms are pretty mild so far. I've had some breast soreness and nausea, but nothing severe.
Rants- We haven't told anyone yet and it's a hard secret to keep. Raves- my husband is going above and beyond to make sure I'm feeling good and that we're both eating healthy.
No questions right now.
GTKY- zodiac sign- cancer, but I'm not a believer in zodiac signs either
Baby is the size of a (an): Teeny tiny clump of cells
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: I am hoping to be team green this time. We have 1 of each and I would love a surprise.
Upcoming Appointments: U/S to confirm viability on Oct 27
How are you feeling?: Nervous and SO TIRED. I fell asleep during the first quarter of Sunday night football last night 😂. Also weird pregnancy dreams started last night, which feels like a positive sign that things are progressing.
Rants/Raves: Still trying to wrap my head around the situation. After so long trying I can’t quite believe it’s real still.
Questions: Anyone else here a runner? I had signed up for a race I really want to run when I’ll be around 8 weeks. I’m competitive and I know I won’t really be able to race it, so trying to decide if it’s worth it if I have to just run it conservatively.
GTKY - what's your zodiac sign? Pisces. I’m not into zodiac stuff, but the Pisces description is pretty darn accurate for my personality.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: I will definitely find out because I’m impatient and like to plan. For some reason I’ve been feeling like it’s a girl, but I will be happy no matter what as long as it’s a healthy baby!
Upcoming Appointments: I had a strong HCG draw yesterday, so they scheduled me for my 6 week ultrasound 🙂 then I will switch to my normal OB if that goes well.
How are you feeling?: sore boobs, exhausted, starting to feel the nausea… I had pretty bad morning sickness (all day) with my son until like 16 weeks so I’m buckling in!
Rants/Raves: I’m bad at keeping secrets and I know I’m going to end up telling my family sooner than later! It just makes me nervous to share that news early because of my history. This is both a rant and a rave 🤣
Questions: none right now!
GTKY - what's your zodiac sign? Gemini - I also don’t really buy into it, but like @maggiemadeit said, some of the characteristics do line up!
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: Definitely finding out - I like being fully briefed
Upcoming Appointments: Just had a confirmation appt and HCG looked really good - I have an US scheduled for 10/23 (but trying to reschedule to get a different doctor at my practice)
How are you feeling?: Pretty decent - fatigue has definitely started and I had my first vivid pregnancy dream last night, but my nausea isn't as bad as it was like a week ago and my nipple pain while BFing is also less than it was.
Rants/Raves: Rave is that my doctor said my HCG numbers look great for this point in my pregnancy!
Questions: None right now
GTKY - what's your zodiac sign? Gemini, but I don't buy into it and everyone loves to hate on Geminis
@maggiemadeit I wouldn't call myself a runner, but I started running again (and by running, I mean run/walk intervals and trying to build up) about 1-2 months ago (great timing ha). I've continued running for now, but I definitely started feeling it more this week as the fatigue has really kicked in. I clearly don't do it competitively, so I my vote would be do it and go easy on yourself! It can be a point of pride that you did it pregnant in and of itself.
@okay52786@hrjackson7 I'm also soooooo bad at/hate keeping secrets. For some reason I'm feeling more conservative about telling people than I was my last pregnancy though. Maybe because it took us a long time last time and this time it happened rather quickly, so it's taking a bit for me to get used to?
@littlemarshmallow I'm sorry you felt judged. I know so many people with around that gap (or shorter!) - and I feel like there are so many great things about them being close in age (or so I keep telling myself - we will have a 22 months gap)
Upcoming Appointments: I got blood drawn today because I had low progesterone with my previous pregnancies. First prenatal appt is 10/24.
How are you feeling?: tired and a little nauseous
Rants/Raves: rant: there's only one women's clinic in my smallish town, and the earliest they could see me is 11/24. I'll be 12 weeks then! I was able to get in earlier at a clinic that's 35 minutes away. Not pumped about having to drive that far to all of my appointments and the hospital, but I mentally couldn't handle waiting that long to be seen.
Questions:
GTKY - what's your zodiac sign? Aries
Married: May 2012 DS1: May 2016 DS2: Jan 2019 Baby #3 EDD: 6/18/24
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: I’ve always had dreams growing up I have two boys. So excited to see if those have meant something! My babies will be 2 years apart almost to the day.
Upcoming Appointments: First prenatal scheduled for 10/30! The wait is on haha!
How are you feeling?: I feel great other than extreme tiredness that hits at like 8pm. My dreams have been so crazy and strange!
Rants/Raves: I just finished the book The House in the Cerulean Sea and it was like a huge hug. 10/10 would recommend. 🥰
FTM/STM/TTM+: This is our first pregnancy!! Feeling so so thankful for my body at the moment
Baby is the size of a (an): orange seed
Team blue/pink/green: We will find out at 11 weeks with the genetic testing panel! I have a feeling it’s a boy.
Upcoming Appointments: I had a confirmation appointment this week, First Prenatal Visit October 30th with my first US on November 1st. HCG levels look good so far!
How are you feeling?: EXHAUSTED! Lots of nausea & breast tenderness. I am trying to be thankful for the symptoms as they indicate a growing baby.
Rants/Raves: My husband has been so adorable these last two weeks. It’s fun to see him get more and more excited.
Questions: When do people start telling families?
GTKY - what's your zodiac sign? Capricorn! I fit the bill for almost all character traits
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: I honestly have a strong feeling it will be a boy 😂
Upcoming Appointments: 10/19 virtual meeting with obgyn staff, 11/7 first prenatal visit, and 12/1 for something I already forget lol
How are you feeling?: I am feeling great in the morning and during the day but once it hits about 5pm the exhaustion sets in and I feel a bit sickly, every night so far for the past week 🥲 making it very hard to eat dinner but I’m doing as best I can
Rants/Raves: telling my fiancé was just so precious. He had a little shrine set up with the onesie I surprised him with and the positive tests. He has a little sticky note on the wall that says something about it being a baby shrine 😂 we are keeping this private until we reach 12 weeks but I am DYING to tell everyone I don’t know how I’m going to last
Questions:
GTKY - what's your zodiac sign? - Cancer ! I am actually really into zodiac signs lol and EVERYONE in my family is pretty much born between June and august, so adding another June baby will hopefully add to the fun lol
@littlemarshmallow we are waiting to tell anyone for quite awhile. My mom is my biggest worry. I had a convo w my mom before we married about him wanting a child as his only biological child moved away to Germany (BM married into Air Force) when she was only a few years old. He has 4 other children he helped raise with his ex and he just really had a strong desire to have his own child and raise it. She thinks it's outrageous he would want a baby when he has grandchildren that are younger than my dds. Not looking forward to that conversation
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: I want to find out but obviously don’t know yet
Upcoming Appointments: I am seeing an RI due TW* previous losses* so I have my first ultrasound on 10/18 but am not expecting to see much. My next one will be 10/25
How are you feeling?: exhausted all the time, I could sleep all day. I also have breast tenderness and some nausea
Rants/Raves: TW: pregnancy after loss is really hard and I am scared all the time of getting too attached. But at the same time I want to enjoy every minute of it. It’s driving me a bit crazy!
Questions: has anyone had an ultrasound at around 5.5 weeks. What is there to actually see?
GTKY - what's your zodiac sign? I am a cancer. I don’t follow the signs and don’t really know what the traits are but I at least remember what I am haha
@alaw0729 Just responded in the other thread about the extra ultrasounds you get if you are advanced maternal age I got a whole schedule of appointments throughout my pregnancy at my appointment, and it notes the extra ultrasounds for moms age 35 +. The things that are different: NIPT around 9 or 10 weeks is usually covered by insurance (and therefore more expected, rather than optional for younger moms - though you can of course opt out if you want) and I get bonus ultrasounds at 32 weeks, 36 weeks, and weekly starting at 37 weeks.
@sbaby2023 I got an ultrasound at 5 weeks 5 days in my last pregnancy - here's the picture (in the spoiler). They often describe it as a "diamond ring" with the yolk sac as the "ring" and the embryo as the "diamond" - and if I remember correctly we could see the tiniest hint of a heart beat starting, though you usually can't see a heart beat until 6 weeks.
Pregnancy after loss is SO HARD. I think next week we should start a weekly PGAL thread. There are a few of us here going through it, and I'm sure we could all use the extra support.
During my last pregnancy I put my guard up so hard becuase of a previous loss, I wouldn't let myself get attached. And when I lost that baby it doubly hurt becuase of course I was attached even though I thought I had protected myself, and I felt very guilty that I hadn't fully loved that baby becuase I was so scared of getting hurt again. I'm taking a different approach this time, and trying to connect with and love this baby fully for every day that I get to carry him/her. I'm still a nervous wreck, but I know there is nothing I can do to change the outcome.
@alaw0729 I was "AMA" when my son was born. My insurance covered the NIPT test and the 12 week ultrasound that were not covered with my first, but that was the only difference. It's so much more common now for women to have children over the age of 35 that I think most providers don't treat it much differently. I'll be 41 when this baby is born though, so we'll see if "super AMA" is any different
@maggiemadeit I currently have a high deductible plan so even if they cover it I will still have to pay for it (unless it is considered preventative) but good to know. Thanks!
