Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing and Treatment w/o October 2

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Re: IF Testing and Treatment w/o October 2

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Acupuncture and herbs

How are things going?: Okay. Not feeling very hopeful this cycle, though I’m not sure why. We got good timing and everything is looking good on my chart so far, so normally I’d be pretty hopeful. Idk, maybe my feelings will change as I get further into the TWW

    Any questions?: Nope

GTKY: what song always gets you out in the dance floor? The music I listen to isn’t really dance music, but there are some songs that I can’t help but sing along to, mostly anything by Simple Plan.

  • @britters314 Ah yes Simple Plan was always good to sing along to!

Diagnosis (if you've been): immune issues

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): still benched for the moment

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): currently TTA but we might be adding in the immunosuppressants in the next week or two. I have to double check the timing for everything because I believe I was not given any refills and need to figure out when to request those and how that will all fit in with my upcoming schedule.

How are things going?: things are good. happy I should be able to start the meds pretty soon. let's goooooooo! Not gonna lie though... I kinda wanna hold off for another month, maybe 2 cuz I want a fall baby. I shouldn't be picky though!

    Any questions?: nope

GTKY: what song always gets you out in the dance floor? the ChaCha Slide haha. Oh and the Cupid Shuffle. I'm a sucker for those dance songs. Otherwise Uptown Funk generally gets me out of my chair too.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Wrapping my head around our options.

How are things going?: So much for getting answers! The clinic’s recommendation is to go straight to IVF. On one hand, I trust their judgment—they’re the experts. On the other hand, it feels like we’re going 0 to 60 very very quickly.

Any questions?: Any favorite resources (websites, books, podcasts) for navigating the journey of infertility?

GTKY: what song always gets you out in the dance floor? The shorter list is probably songs that WOULDN’T get me out on the dance floor 😂

@britters314 Simple Plan takes me right back to middle school, feelings and all. So. Much. Angst.

    @inthewoods23 Classics!

  • @aisleofviewtwo Did the clinic tell you why they recommend going straight to IVF? I’ve read that IUI doesn’t actually improve chances all that much for unexplained infertility, so I’m curious if that’s why.
  • @britters314 That’s basically it. IUI helps most with timing and facilitating access. But since we already have those things—I ovulate on a reliable schedule, his swimmers are good, there’s nothing anatomically keeping the two from meeting—it’s unlikely that orchestrating it with IUI will solve our problems. They gave us a 10-15% chance of IUI success each cycle.

A couple other pieces that are specific to our puzzle: I have an adequate ovarian reserve but it’s on the low side for my age, and the only limit to our insurance is that they will only cover 3 egg retrievals. So retrieval sooner rather than later increases the odds that we’ll get enough healthy embryos for all children we hope to have.
