Hi,
Sadly I recently had a miscarriage, it was my first pregnancy.
Just for a bit of background, I am 28 and so is my partner, he has an 8 year old from a previous relationship and I do not have any children. We have been together a while and I decided I was finally ready for a baby. We spoke about it for 5 months before I had my contraception implant removed and we fell pregnant quite quickly. I had some bleeding and stomach cramps, had an emergency scan at 7 weeks but all was ok. The bleeding got heavier and the pain worse, so we went to our local A&E after calling the midwife. We sat in A&E and after a few hours of waiting we were told to go home without being examined or seen by a Dr. I was advised bleeding is normal and I was being over anxious as a first time mother. We had our dating scan booked for a few weeks after and was told to wait for that, which we did. The pain subsided after a few days and after nearly a week the bleeding stopped. We went to our dating scan and was told that I was no longer pregnant and I had miscarried. It was of course shocking and devastating to us.
Between the time the bleeding stopped and the time we went for our dating scan, myself and my partner were having unprotected sex.
We have spoken and we do want to try for another baby but I keep getting medical forums and I want real people stories.
When is the best time to get pregnant after a miscarriage?
Can you get pregnant before you have your first period after a miscarriage?
Are twins more likely to be conceived after a miscarriage?
Are the chances higher or lower of having a miscarriage if you have had one before?
Is it harder to conceive if you have had a miscarriage?
I know it’s a lot of quotations but as I’m sure some of you can understand, after the ‘medical’ advise I received during my pregnancy, I don’t really trust it and would like real answers from real people with first had experience.
Thank you!
