Doctor switch - thoughts?

I’m on my first pregnancy and due with twins, currently 21 weeks pregnant. I just had my first appointment with the doc who was assigned to me since I can’t have a midwife due to being high risk. The doc was very emotionally distant, I felt rushed and even judged for some of my questions. I decided I don’t feel comfortable to continue with this doc but am curious about other mamas and your experience with meeting your doc and what you look for in them 💕

Re: Doctor switch - thoughts?

  • My transition into pregnancy was fairly easy as my OB was my GYN already and I’ve always really liked him. He listens to me, is kind and patient. Whenever I got my IUD removed he asked the reason for the removal and I said since we wanted to start a family and get my body regulated. And his response was “okay great. Just wanted to make sure you were doing this for you and it was something you wanted.” That really made me feel like I was being cared for. I have seen other providers at this practice and haven’t had a bad experience. I would recommend potentially a new practice all together as it could just be the culture of the clinic.

I had a friend switch providers around 20 weeks, and she hasn’t regretted. She felt similarly as you about the initial OB/Gyn practice she was with. She was nervous to at first but she knew ultimately it was the best de idiom for her and baby!
