  • EDD/Weeks + days: 29w2d, 12/9

Baby is the size of a(n): Fanny pack according to Babylist...

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 🩷

Upcoming appointments: Sitting at my 3-hour glucose test right now and then regular check-up next Monday.

How are you feeling? Definitely feeling pregnant now and the heartburn is only getting worse...yay.  Still anxious about getting things set up, but I'm hoping that we'll be able to start moving office furniture out and maybe paint the room this weekend.  I think if we could at least do that I'd feel a little bit better because then I can just find some time to put the crib and dresser together and do decorations after the shower (if we get them).

Raves/Rants: Super frustrated that I'm doing this 3-hour test. I feel like there should be some sort of consistency with these things!  I got my results in email and saw 135/139 passed and got excited, but then the doctor's office called and said I failed, so I asked why and they use 130 as their base instead of 139.  So, now I'm stuck at the LapCorp office for the next 2.5 hr (at least 30 minutes have passed!) with no food or drinks and Baby Girl is HUNGRY.  😂

Questions: Birth plans - who has done them and are they plans your write down or just keep in your head? I feel like I want to just be flexible and know that not everything goes according to plan, but also know that on some of the birth plan sheets it asks about who you want there with you/if you want visitors, etc. and want it to just be me and my husband.  Just wondering what everyone else has done.

Baby is the size of a(n): Kale

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💙

Upcoming appointments: Oct 2nd, 1 hr Glucose test

How are you feeling? Not much different than last week, other than tired from peeing a lot in the night. We're on vacation with family and they're bad about eating out late, so I drank later than my normal cut off and peed so much. Starting to have hip discomfort if I don't sit/sleep with a good pillow. Realizing I can't bend over certain ways while while helping my toddler do stuff. Loving how much stronger little boys kicks are and I keep trying to get my son to feel, but he's so used to us saying to be careful around my belly that he's afraid to press with the pressure needed to feel kicks.

    Raves/Rants: none

    Questions:none

@dmcg17 I didn't fill out a formal birth plan last time, but I did have things I knew I DIDNT want. I knew I didn't want forceps used so I specified that. At one point during prenatal visists the ob just asked me yes and no questions about preferences. Might not be so overwhelming if you know what you don't want and are good about being open to plans changing. My dr kinda used mine against me because he could tell I wasn't pushing hard enough. He said if we didn't have much progress, he'd have to use forceps. I found the strength and later he told me he just had to tell me that because he knew it might work 😆
  • EDD/Weeks + days: December 23 / 27 weeks + 2 days

Baby is the size of a(n): cabbage

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 🩷

Upcoming appointments: regular checkup on 10/2

How are you feeling? Feeling good other than fatigue slowly starting to creep in. Having trouble sleeping at night (usual hip pain).

Raves/Rants: Excited to go on a hospital tour tonight and starting classes at the hospital next week. A little anxious because we have a lot going on in October between work, classes and family coming into town for the baby shower. Not ready for all this!

Questions: has anyone used a pregnancy belt (or currently using) to help with back/hip pain? If so - which brand do you recommend?

@dmcg17 I don’t have a birth plan (yet) because I’m worried I’m going to be disappointed if things don’t go as planned. Husband and I are definitely going to talk through everything (as we get closer) so he can advocate for me (I have a feeling my mind will be elsewhere).
  • Weeks: 28 Wed

Baby is the size of lettuce ?? I can't remember

    Team blue

Upcoming appointment: glucose Wed, regular obgyn Friday

How are you feeling: my nausea started back up yesterday and I threw up for the first time in weeks. So bizarre.

Raves/rants: had some contractions last week. I told them I didn't think it was a big deal but I just wanted someone to check my cervix given my history. They made me go to the hospital 🙄 and literally did nothing there that they couldn't do in office. But all is well and cervix is still closed. Haven't had any more since then.

Questions: Anyone else getting scared? It hit me hard last night that this baby has to come out soon. I want so badly to be awake during the c section but I just don't think my anxiety and panic attacks can do it. I'm hoping the Dr. will be able to spend a little more time with me this week so we can talk about it. My husband is a workaholic and I keep telling him he's going to have to be home for two weeks after baby which he agrees to now BUT I JUST KNOW that fool will be like "hey I'm just gonna squeeze in this one house today."

And those of you with kids already, how do you deal with the guilt?! I know I'll be in the hospital for 2-3 days and then pretty useless for two weeks. I feel SO GUILTY already for leaving my 6 year old to the wilds!

@ahrob135 A friend lent me hers just this week and I can't tell that it helps at all. It's like it doesn't get quite tight enough.

@dmcg17 I'm hoping to have the birth plan discussion this week. Obviously ain't much to plan for with a c-section but I would like to know if I stay awake how we can reduce my anxiety (can I play my own music? Can I have a doula for emotional support once baby is born and Daddy goes with baby to get him cleaned up? That kind of thing).

Baby is the size of a(n): Head of Lettuce

    Team Pink

Upcoming appointments: 10/11 obgyn check in

How are you feeling? I feel PREGNANT. I can feel the baby low and up front and it is making me uncomfortable and my back hurt. But it's nice getting to feel her more and more. I am feeling more more confident in birthing and the end goal after completing our birthing class and I'm just wishing Oct and Nov will fly by.

Raves/Rants:  I'm getting frustrated with family not getting that's things are changing. Christmas eve tradition was we'd spend the night at MIL and then do Christmas morning she's upset it's clearly not happening with a 12/23 due date. My sisters upset I can't just drop and take on her 2 young children whenever anymore and my dad doesn't get that there's a chance I may not be able go out next month for his wedding due to how far along I am. I just don't get how they don't get things are going to be completely different now that I'm pregnant with our first child.

Questions: Is anyone have tips or experience setting boundaries with overwhelming family?
  • EDD/Weeks + days: EDD 12/31 I am 26 weeks and 1 day today

Baby is the size of a(n): head of kale

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: Blue!

Upcoming appointments: I am on the more frequent ultrasound schedule so have another soon.

How are you feeling? Relatively good. Low back/hips are starting to get uncomfortable. Dealing with headaches.

Raves/Rants: I love my OB but she is leaving end of November so for the last month I will have to see someone else.

    Questions: not at the moment.
  • @jenfam3 we have the same due date 😄 I’m really sorry you’re having to go through all that (not fun to have that added stress).  I’m having a hard time setting boundaries too. My in-laws are expecting me and my husband to host Christmas this year and wants all of our immediate family (and their family) to celebrate at our house. I’m getting super anxious because I have a hard time saying no and not wanting to have that many visitors traveling across country (esp. w cold/flu season). Luckily my sister in law is intervening and saying she’ll host this year and my mom will be the gatekeeper for setting boundaries with visitors (my husband has a hard time saying no too). Hoping as the due date approaches mama bear mode will step in and will be able to speak up!
  • @jenfam3 My due date is 12/9 and my husband and I have already started telling our families that Christmas will look different this year.  Usually we spend Christmas Eve at my grandparents' house and do gifts at midnight and then drive up to my in-laws' (2.5 hrs away) on Christmas morning after my husband and I do our own gifts.  I know it's hard to set boundaries, but people need to understand that having a baby (whether it's your first or not) changes things, especially around holidays and having a bunch of people around a newborn
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 28 w + 2 d

Baby is the size of a(n): lettuce I think

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: pink

Upcoming appointments: check up Oct. 12

How are you feeling? Tired, my back and just under my ribs really hurts. Other than that I feel good! Had an appointment and scan today. Appointment went well although the babies heartrate was really high at first but the doc said it just because she was moving so much. After a second try it was much better, so I was grateful for that. I got to see her again at the scan she has chubby little cheeks now which is adorable!!

Raves/Rants: I think we might actually be close to finishing our registry!! Hubby and I went to some stores yesterday and started scanning stuff. It was fun. Lol

    Questions: no questions right now.

@dmcg17 I asked my doctor about the birthing plan today. She said at the hospital where we will be delivering is pretty flexible and they kinda let the baby dictate what is going to happen lol. But she went through the options they have as far and pain control and procedures after baby is born and it all seems to be exactly what I was hoping for so I am grateful for that. It seems like there is sooo much to do to prepare for baby I am ok with having a basic idea of what I would like to happen and go with the flow when the time comes.

@jenfam3 That seems a little selfish for your family to put so many expectations and stress on you. As woman we tend to always want to please others and find it so hard to say no. I've started setting boundaries for myself and have come to realize that the more I do it the more people stop putting demands on me. The people who matter have come to respect it and still love me. The ones who don't respect my boundaries maybe I didn't matter to much to them anyway! 🤷🏼‍♀️ It can certainly be difficult though depending on the person.

    Upcoming appointments: Oct 12th

How are you feeling? Tired, round, but a okay lol

Raves/Rants: not much has changed around here. We finally have a day set up for the movers to come and I’m ready! Lol

I thought I was over throwing up but then it pops up out of no where when I’m stuffy or gargle 🙃

@dmcg17 with my first I went in with an open mind. I knew I wanted an epidural and I made it clear to deliver my son as safely as possible wanted delayed cord clamping and bath but that was it. Same plans this time with added support on BF

  • EDD/Weeks + days: Dec 21 / 28 weeks today. Hellooooo, 3rd trimester!

Baby is the size of a(n): 2.5-pound eggplant, apparently

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: pink

Upcoming appointments: Nothing until my 3rd ultrasound in 2 weeks

How are you feeling? Tired. It hit me like a bus this week. Baby parties every night like clockwork from 3-5 am and my other kids are up at 6. And that's before I factor in multiple bathroom trips. Other than that things are OK. This baby is constantly shifting, so I know she's OK. Still thankful for a boring pregnancy this time around!

Raves/Rants: I am stressed about my work. I am supposed to finish a project on Dec 4, which is already cutting it close to delivery. Due to circumstances beyond my control I'm running 2 weeks behind that. I was told I can have a 3-week extension, but, um, birth..?? newborn..?? I'm going to have to work weekends or nights to catch up :(
On the upside a neighbor gave me a bag of used baby clothes, which I washed and put away, so I'm essentially done with everything I need to prepare before December!

I feel for those of you dealing with overbearing relatives. My experience after my first was so bad I decided to move to South Africa when he was a few months old - problem solved! :D This time both sets of parents are being much more cooperative ;) My ILs live 2 miles away and we will go to their house one day (preferably Christmas Eve, but I've made it clear that may change), and my parents are coming right after New Year's. I will say it helps if it's not the first baby. For example my ILs are already planning to take over things like Cookie baking and Sledding with the older kids, so baby and I will have peace, even though grandparents are around.

@clt2pwm11 I had a similar c-section experience. I'm hoping for a VBAC this time, but I am also planning for a c-section, just in case. First, I was told benzodiazepines are safe during pregnancy, so you could ask your doctor if they'd allow you to take that before the operation to calm you down. That's what I did for my second c-section and I feel it helped. However this time around both the hospital OB and my psychotherapist suggested I go under in the case of a c-section. They said my husband could be there and they could still lay baby on my chest while I'm sleeping. There are also apparently shorter-acting anesthetics that allow you to wake up sooner. "Worst" case scenario your husband can do skin-to-skin while they wait for you. May be a few ideas to discuss with your doctor!

Baby is the size of a(n): Lettuce

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💙

Upcoming appointments: Oct. 13 glucose test

How are you feeling? Constipated, round, tired, out of breath and aches. I have minor acid reflux daily. I feel pregnancy fatigue too — like I’m tired of being pregnant to be honest lol.

Raves/Rants: We had a child birth class scheduled for last weekend but the instructor got Covid and had to reschedule for in a few weeks. That was a bummer. We booked our 3D/4D ultrasound this morning! Yay! So excited to see baby again!

Questions: Is anyone else taking a child birth class? If you have already taken one, was it helpful?

@dmcg17 I have an idea in my head of how I would like my birth to go, but I don’t have a formal plan written down. Part of me wants to be open to go with the flow to hopefully reduce any potential disappointment or trauma.

I’m nervous about the holidays too. My in-laws tend to come and go as they please. When they visit, they never give us much details of when they are arriving and departing. They are planning to visit for Christmas and I have no clue what their plan is. I don’t know how much help they will be around the house either. It’s stressing me out a little. My husband doesn’t ever put boundaries in place with his family and we just got married in the spring so I don’t feel too comfortable to speak up.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 30 weeks & 2 days

Baby is the size of a(n): Zucchini

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 🩷💕

    Upcoming appointments: Tuesday October 2

    How are you feeling? Tired…

Raves/Rants: Pieces of my mucus plug came out yesterday. I wasn’t having contractions so I wasn’t worried. Then this morning more came out and contractions started so I ended up go to the hospital. I was given iv for fluids and they were able to stop the contractions. So I’m home resting. I started to panic because we are not ready for baby girl just yet. My baby shower is on the 10th and we were waiting to see what all we get and then purchase.

Questions: anybody ready for their baby yet? Are we cutting it too close!?

  • Oh wow @sweetleeyah I'm so sorry you had to go through that!!! Baby needs more time!!

    EDD/Weeks + days: 30 + 3

Baby is the size of a(n): dancing baby in my uterus. Or a zucchini. I think?

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💚

Upcoming appointments: I have had a week off of going to appointments, which is such a relief!! Next appointment is the ob next week, and the high risk clinic and cardiologist the following week

How are you feeling? Like I was hit by a truck and drowning while throwing up everything I eat, all the time! I no longer have major food aversions, but I will also lose my stomach 50% of the time due to nighttime nausea, heart burn, acid reflux.
And now I'm just tired from the moment I get up, push through the day, and collapse. My stomach has doubled overnight, which might be why. Hard to get those cardio workouts in anymore with no energy.
My stomach will stiffen for a few hours every so often. My friends tell me it may be Braxton Hicks, but it's not how I imagined it would be.

Raves/Rants: with the threat of emergency induction any week from my doctors, I feel like I'm constantly searching average NICU stays for the week of pregnancy I'm in and freaking out. I keep telling myself it may not be a preemie, that I can last till 37 weeks, but then I know it can change so fast.
No one in my family has dealt with a NICU experience so they are all worked up too...

    Questions:
  • @chelleylin I have had 2 of my kids in the NICU and I must say although scary the nurses that took care of my kids were awesome!!
  • @sweetleeyah yikes! That must have been so unexpected and unsettling. I hope you are feeling better now and the baby can hang on for a few more weeks!

I don't have much ready either and I'll be 29 weeks tomorrow. We are the same as you holding out for the baby shower. Ours isn't until Nov 5th due to family schedules. We have so many people who love us and want to help support that we want to give them the chance but  we did feel a little nervous about cutting it too close. So we ordered the crib and dresser which will be here next week. Just got the travel system yesterday because I figured if she comes early at least we can take her home lol. But as far as everything else goes we have 4 little outfits hanging in her closet a box of diapers and a blanket I crocheted two years ago hoping to get pregnant 😅.
  • @sweetleeyah That must have been scary! Glad you’re doing okay now. I’m in the same boat - waiting for our shower on Oct. 29 and then I’ll start buying the stuff we still need. Similar to @nerakh246 we have a crib and dresser (from my parents) and a car seat/stroller (from my in-laws) plus a few outfits I’ve grabbed, 1 pack of diapers, and a couple other odds and ends that people have sent to us since they can’t make the shower. Everything is still in boxes though, so I’m hoping to at least start the nursery this weekend.
  •   @chelleylin and @sweetleeyah
I want to help calm your nerves. You are in a good position because your Doctors are aware of your risk and they will closely monitor you. When I had my baby at 26 weeks, there was no warning whatsoever. We were very lucky my son survived because I didn't have enough time to get the shots for his lungs. Because your Doctors are now aware and watching you, they can get you those shots and that will help tremendously!

If you are over 28 weeks, your odds are so so so good. We stayed 100 days in the NICU and came home after our due date. I have friends who had babies at 28 weeks. They all came home before their due dates. I know no one wants to end up in the NICU, but 6 years later, sometimes I miss that place. I know it sounds weird but just to sit around and hold my baby and be cared for by the nurses. They are absolutely angels on earth ❤️.

@sweetleeyah, I understand how you are feeling! If you have baby early, you WILL still have time to get things in place. I was able to get it all put together in two days with some help from friends while my son was in the NICU.

Both of you hang in there. Take it easy and be extra kind to yourselves.  I'm praying for you!!
