The Great Big Question Thread!

Re: The Great Big Question Thread!

  • Has anyone experienced pelvic cramping/ aching? I’m 19 weeks today (I know prob further along than most in our April group) and have had a lot of pelvic cramping today. I still feel baby moving around in there and I know there’s a lot of growth happening but I can’t help but be kind of worried.

  • I think I overdid it a bit today, physically, since it was a holiday and I wanted to take my toddler out and about. I'm almost at 19 weeks. This evening I had some pains/cramping but since laying down, eating & drinking it's gotten better. It was concerning but since it's let up I'm not as worried. Has it been consistent for you? Or have you noticed it tied to anything?
  • @mom2be_again I am 18 weeks today so close behind! I haven’t experienced any pelvic cramping yet. However I looked at my notes from my last baby (I kept weekly track of symptoms on my phone) and I did experience some cramping at 20 weeks (it felt like a running cramp) and at 21 weeks my first noticeable Braxton hicks. Your muscles are doing some wild things right now!!! But as always, it’s worth an ask at the dr if you feel worried. Trust your mama intuition !!
  • With my last pregnancy, I remember having some cramping when I would overdo things, but I don't remember it being painful. I do have pain unrelated to cramping because I have abdominal scarring from surgery a few years ago, and it hurts when the scars stretch, but I'd probably be calling the nurse line if I was having painful cramping. They know what sounds concerning, and mine have always been really good at calming me down when my symptoms that prompted the call weren't enough to worry with a visit.
  • hello! i am 4 weeks and one day today. i am one day late however i have taken four pregnancy tests since Wednesday (its now Saturday). every test i take seems to be getting more faint but they are also all different brands of tests so they could be picking up the hgc differently. however i got a negatie this morning. i have mild cramps in my stomach and back but im thinking it is because i fell asleep on the couch last night. im not bleeding or experiencing severe pain so im hoping im just early hecause i took this test after 6 hours of sleep. i cant speak to my doctor about this being possible pregnancy loss because my partner tested positive for covid last night so i cannot leave the house. please give advice if possible.
  • I had a little wine later in the second trimester with my first and he’s doing great. Like 4oz a week.
  • @jayyjayy02 Call your doctor's office on Monday morning, and ask what they recommend. A series of positives followed by a negative, especially with cramps, sounds like a miscarriage. There isn't likely much that they will offer you since it's so early, but they can advise at least on whether you should come in for a blood draw or just wait things out. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
  • Everyone in my household has a little cold. Need tips on how to survive this winter. I feel like as a pregnant person there's not much I can do. One question can I use vicks on my chest?
  • Your OB might have a list of approved medications on their website. I've checked mine a few times when I had various complaints. You can certainly run a humidifier in the room, and if they're worried about you applying the Vicks topically, you might be able to put it on a cloth near your face? That's actually what I usually do anyway because I don't like the feel of the Vicks.

17 weeks pregnant with twins.. third pregnancy and this so far has been my worst pregnancy.. always hungry, always nauseous. Freaking out that I’m having identical twin boys and my other two kids are girls.. any advice would be wonderful before I drive my fiancé crazy
  • @ktaylor96 I’m having twin boys too! I’ll be 17 weeks on Tuesday. This also will be number 3 and 4 for me, however my first two are boys. I totally get the feeling crappy. I’m still struggling with moments of nausea/gagging. I’ve learned I need to consistently take vit b6 and unison every night and it really helps. I was taking it here and there and that just didn’t work. Maybe that could help you too! I also find that the days I don’t drink enough water are my days I feel the worst. As for adding two boys to your mix, you’ll do great. Boys love their mamas so much!
  • @erinar13 I will definitely try that!!! Thank you! I’m just stil in shock that I’m having twins. I was definitely not expecting that.
  • Anyone have an anterior placenta ?? When did you feel movement/kicks??
  • I do! I started feeling it intermittent around 20 weeks.

  • Hi Moms2be, I had my 2hr glucose tolerance test yesterday. Fasting and the 1hr were slightly out of range (98, 190) while 2hr was within range 153. Will see the doctor next week, for now the nutritionist has advised lowering carbs. Any advice/suggestions from personal experiences?

One of my good friends is married to a doctor and they have three kids together. She had the occasional glass of wine during all of her pregnancies and all three kids were born without any issues. Her husband who is the doctor said once in a while is fine.
  • I would invest in at least one pair of decent maternity jeans.  I have bought several and have found occasions where thin leggings just wouldn't cut it. You can always buy some second hand from Facebook marketplace. Old Navy also has a great maternity line too.
  • Hi everyone! I turned 33 weeks on Saturday and am so itchy. It started a little bit on Friday and Saturday but I thought it was just dry skin. Sunday my legs, belly and hands were itching and today (Monday) my entire body itches (except my hands stopped itching at like noon). I was researching cholestasis and it says end of 2nd trimester, early 3rd trimester so I’m not sure if I’m too far along. I talked to my friend who got it at 30 weeks.

Has anyone gotten it at 33 weeks-ish? Should I call my OB tomorrow or wait til my appointment on 3/4?

    Thank you!
  • Never hurts to call with questions or concerns is what I have always been told<3 hope the itching stops!!
  • I got super itchy too all over around then , I got checked for cholestasis just in case but it wasn’t that, just the hormones and oh so itchy !!! But worth it for peace of mind to get it checked !
