Are you all wearing maternity clothes? I am on a tight budget and picky about my clothes! I have nothing! I am absolutely going to need a pair of decent looking jeans and some leggings or joggers for home but I'd like to squeak by with as little as possible. Any great ideas!?
@farm_mama I like the Jessica Simpson maternity jeans from Motherhood Maternity (they have really good sales - I got a couple pair last month for like $15 each), and the Kindred Bravely high waisted (over bump) leggings (with pockets) are incredible. They're expensive but last forever and are great for post partum too - I never stopped wearing mine.ย Eta: with my first pregnancy a Bella Band worked really well for me and I was able to wear my regular jeans all the way through to the end, but then with my second I carried too low and it didn't work, so that one depends on your body.

@farm_mama for pants check for kids consignment sales in your town or places like kid2kid or once upon a child. They usually have a maternity section and you can get some nice stuff for a fraction of the price. Iโm on my 3rd baby but a lot of what I had with my first pregnancy is too small this time around for me so I needed to supplement what I had and I went that route.ย
@farm_mama definitely check out second hand stores for maternity. My SIL found loads at goodwill for her first pregnancy with Jan23 daughter. I consign my kids clothes at a huge 2x/year sale locally and there is always a large maternity section of practically new items for a steal.ย
We started school this week and DS2 has taken Prek on like a total champ. We cruise through his lesson on 30minutes tops. DS1 though is less than thrilled about everything but history. I also love history so I get it but math and writing skills are important too kiddo.ย
@farm_mama If you're on social media, maybe make a post to see if any mama friends still have maternity clothes they'd be willing to give you/sell on the cheap? I got about 4 trash bags full of maternity clothes for $50 from an old co worker who was looking to clean out her closet. It's a great opportunity to purge and help a friend out!ย
Is it me, or are there more random weirdos on TB than there used to be? people who are spammy or seem totally oblivious to what a post is about. (This brought to you by the response on the name thread, where someone was giving suggestions on baby names, based on "name type")
I feel bad, I really want to be more active on the board, but life is just so busy. I'm going to spam y'all with some funny stories.
I told work yesterday, we have in person training on Mon/Tues, our department is traveling to NJ from all over the country and for most of us it will be the first time we meet. I always start by telling the partner(s) in charge of our department, and this time around I was on PTO when I hit 12 weeks, and then one of the partners went out on PTO the day I got back. So yesterday was my first chance to tell them. They were both really excited for me. We have a department lunch every week on Teams, it's very loose, and you never know whose going to show up, based on other responsibilities. One of my good work friends posted that he wasn't going to make it, so I said "You're going to miss my big pregnancy announcement, but I guess you'll see the bump on Monday." He responded "You should have just planned on walking in on Monday and yelling surprise!" But then a bunch of people joined the lunch, and were like, "Are you really pregnant, or are you teasing [co-worker]?" it was lots of fun. And of course I got all the comments about how now I'm going to have my own basketball team.ย ๐
DS2 and DS3 are fighting about whether the baby is going to be a boy or girl. I told them we don't have any choice in the matter, but according to DS3 he "needs" another brother. Personally, I had two and thought that was enough, butย ๐คท
@mrosek91 Iโm so glad you had fun announcing at work! This baby is going to be my 3rd boy and DS1 (6.5) was so mad when told him it wasnโt a girl. He furrowed his brow and yelled โWhy do we only get boys?!โ Thankfully heโs still very excited about the baby in general, he constantly hugs my belly and says he canโt wait for February, but he would be tickled to get a sister.ย
@mrosek91 yes so many one off random comments. I generally ignore the random posts that should have been included in an existing thread but names I donโt recognize or knottiexyz. But I wish we could remove or report some of the weirder stuff (the craving pickles comment from a male sounding profile in the check in thread๐ณ๐ just no.)ย
Iโm glad you had a fun telling your coworkers!!ย
I got a few maternity pants from like Ross and some maternity leggings but other than that havenโt bought much. I def need some though but itโs our 5th and i donโt want to waste money getting a whole new wardrobe for a shorter period.ย
Almost 13 weeks and the nausea has ramped even more. What is this sorcery?! I have never dealt with this before.ย
