Lip tie

Hey everyone, my son is 5 months and I've always had a difficult time with his latch and nursing him. He only likes the foremilk and doesn't stay on long enough (or can't get) the rest out. I've always wondered about a lip tie as he doesn't make the "duck lips" when latching. He refuses a soother and extremely difficult to get him to take a bottle. He's growing well once we introduced rice cereal at 4 months. But here I am again questioning a lip tie as it isn't getting any easier. What do you all think?

Hi @knottief66f219060e8ce81 have you talked to your pediatrician about this? Or a lactation consultant? Do you use a nipple shield? My daughter had both a lip and tongue tie, and received the laser procedure at 21 days old. I would suggest getting a few opinions because at the time we had gotten advice to leave it, and having it treated. We saw a pediatric dentist who walked us through the process and it went very smoothly. Even after the procedure it still took time for her to acclimate and latch properly, so if you do end up doing it, just be patient! We used a nipple shield to help with her latch until she was four months. She is now six months and doing very well and nursing no problem. Good luck!
