Irregular gestational sac

Hi, everyone

I went for a transvaginal ultrasound when I was 4 weeks 5 days. Beta hcg taken on day of missed period was 576 which doubled to 1302 in 60 hours (this was at 4 weeks, 2 days). At the scan, the obgyn said I have a small irregular gestational sac and some free fluid in the uterus which she feels is from rupture of a corpus luteal cyst. She has started me on progesterone supplements.
I repeated a beta hcg 1 day after the scan (4 days after the previous beta hcg) and it was 9119 which shows good doubling.
I have only mild cramps at odd times, but no pain, no spotting, no bleeding.
Can a sac be irregular as it is still early? Is there still a chance of improvement? Or does irregular gs at this stage also mean miscarriage?
Has anyone else faced this? I am really worried.

Re: Irregular gestational sac

  • Hi! I haven’t faced this, and I’m no doctor. However; it seems too early to be certain about anything. Give it a couple weeks. With my first, I even had a blood clot at about 8 weeks- tons of blood (like a period), and she ended up being 9lbs 12oz :) I would say just too early.

I had an ultrasound at 6w3d due to light pink spotting and it showed that. My doctor said it’s something lll have to keep an eye out for the next ultrasound. It can go either way meaning it could mean an abnormality or nothing at all. She said it could even be incorrect because of the skill set of the technician since I got it done in the ER
