Migraines?

I was on topamax and now I’m off and my head is killing me. Is anyone else in this boat? What are we doing for headaches?

Re: Migraines?

  • The only thing my doc mentioned was Tylenol. Have you tried asking your OB for a pregnancy safe option that would be similar to Topomax?

  • Cold compresses and eye masks do help. I have been battling a headache for a few days now.
  • Ive heard caffeine can help headaches in pregnancy

  • I’m also a migraine sufferer! My neurologist hasn’t allowed me on any migraine drugs for the two years I’ve been TTC. I actually think this is medically inappropriate and too conservative . I should have sought a second opinion but I’ve been suffering through with ice pack head wraps and ice pack eye masks, along with extra strength Tylenol or excedrin. (And screaming and crying into a pillow lol) Once I got pregnant, I cut back my typical caffeine intake and had a wicked withdrawal headache. My mom and best friend also are migraine sufferers and said they didn’t have many while pregnant. This is my first baby so not sure how it will play out for me. Migraines suck!

They really do suck. I hate that while ttc they take you off meds. It’s not fair.

I’m using a midwife this go around so I don’t have an ob right now, should I have both?
  • So I’m at 12 weeks now and suffering another migraine - on day 3. Tylenol isn’t doing much so just taking it easy and using cold packs. How has everyone else been doing?
  • I just got over a bruuuuutal one this weekend, I had to go home from work and call in Saturday because my head was searing and I was seeing double. Tylenol doesn't even take the edge off, so I tried to lie in my bed in the dark. I'm going to ask if there's ANYTHING I can take, this is my second one and I'm 19 weeks.
  • My midwife suggested taking magnesium supplements for headaches. A coworker said it helped her more than Tylenol. I haven’t bought any to try yet.
