Team blue/pink/green: We're having a Gender reveal 8/27. I have been (im)patiently waiting to find out since the NIPT results showed up in my inbox 8/8.
Upcoming Appointments: September 15
How are you feeling?: The nausea went away for awhile and now it is back the last couple days and much worse. and I suddenly am averse to most foods when I have been doing okay eating most things. I am not having a good time.
Rants/Raves: I am feeling a little like I am only making discussions for myself. Hopefully there are still a few others around that still want to participate here. I know people are busy and the bump doesn't have the easiest platform to access but I feel a little conceited when I see my own name on everything when I log in.
Questions: None for now.
GTKY: Would you rather be hot or cold? Did your answer change at all during pregnancy? I would rather be hot. My answer didn't change with pregnancy but the heat sure affects me a lot more. If only that translated to me staying warmer in the winter time but I learned with my last pregnancy that it does not for me.
Team blue/pink/green: NIPT is tomorrow! We go on vacation with both sets of our parents on Saturday and I'm hoping our results come in while we're all together!
Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow!
How are you feeling?: RAVENOUS, if I don't eat the second I feel hungry, I get immediately nauseous. It's great. But I am finally getting restful sleep.
Rants/Raves: @dinomeetsjedi Thank you for keeping the threads alive! I'm here and actively reading them! I did forget to respond to you a week or two ago though, we announced the pregnancy to my mom and dad, and you had asked how we did it! We were supposed to all go to Aruba together around mid-Feb, which is obviously not happening now. So I started with telling them how we wouldn't be able to swing the trip, but that they wouldnt be able to either. Then I whipped out the sonogram and showed them why! I'm not sure if we can post videos here, but my husband caught it all on camera! It was very sweet
Questions: How long did everyone's NIPT results take? Really hoping our results come next week while all of our families are together!
GTKY: Would you rather be hot or cold? Did your answer change at all during pregnancy? I'm always cold, but would take blankets and hoodies every day. Im a grump if I'm hot!
@cmill828 My NIPT results took three weeks, but that was because of some kerfuffle with documentation. I think it's normally about a week (but I've heard of others also waiting 3-4 weeks). @dinomeetsjedi I'm here! I don't know many people yet where we're currently living, so it's nice to have a community of others expecting
Baby is the size of a(n): avocado! (we might switch from calling her little bean to our avocado!!)
Team blue/pink/green: girl
Upcoming Appointments: 5th of Sept. But 13th is anatomy scan, which is more exciting!!!
How are you feeling?: A lot better. Still taking naps every other day or so. Evening nausea, seems to be more of the motion-sick kind than the gut-induced type, which is a shift from the first trimester (I also have lower blood pressure, so possibly related). New aversion to cooking onions, haha. And my sleep has become very tossy-turny, even with the awesome pillow.
Rants/Raves: I had a bit of a scare yesterday. We went out for drinks and dinner with some friends (who don't know yet that I'm pregnant). I ordered this mocktail with watermelon, basil, and gingerbeer. It didn't taste very gingery or fizzy, and when I got down to the bottom, it tasted more like alcohol! My hubby finished it... There was a similar alcoholic drink on the menu, and I was worried they gave me that instead, but the bill said non-alcoholic version. I'm still skeptical. Any, who...
Questions: ...has anyone accidentally ingested alcohol while pregnant? From what I read, a little is not going to do any damage, but curious if others have had similar experiences.
GTKY: Would you rather be hot or cold? Did your answer change at all during pregnancy? I'd rather be hot, but warm weather has really been affecting me negatively while pregnant. So I'd probably rather bundle up at the moment.
@cmill828 That's such a cute announcement! and that's really cool you got it all on video. Sometimes it doesn't really occur to me to video things and now I wish I had a video of our announcement.
My NIPT results only took about 4 business days, but from what I can tell, the length of time it takes depends mostly what company you go through. My company was Invitae and both times I've used them, they've been pretty quick. I've heard the most complaints about Myriad so hopefully that's not who your doctor/insurance goes through.
@cioccolata16 That is scary! In one of my other groups, a woman did get served an alcoholic drink instead of the mocktail she ordered in a similar situation and she started to feel a little tipsy and that's how she knew and questioned the waitress. I don't understand how these things can happen so frequently. It's dangerous not just for pregnant women but for people in recovery, etc. But, even if you had felt tipsy from it, your baby will be okay. Lots of women don't know they are pregnant and continue to drink and their babies are okay. The first trimester is the most vulnerable time for your baby to be exposed to any substances/toxins/environments and you're into your second trimester now, so one mixed drink is likely okay. And based on the research in the book "Expecting Better", because nobody can ethically study the affects of alcohol on an unborn (or born I suppose) baby, most studies that look at women who drink during pregnancy are often confounded by drugs or other substances as well. That is why the recommendation is "no alcohol" during pregnancy, because no threshold is able to be established. I hope that eases your mind. I would be so upset if that happened, but hopefully it was truly a mocktail and your pregnancy tastebuds are just weird. I know mine are at times.
Re: Weekly Check In, Week of 8/21
Cold so I can bundle up in all the warm cozy things!
