Re: Weekly Check-In Week of 8/14/23

  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: 11/2, 28 wks 5 days

    FTM/STM/STM+: Baby #5

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Surprise

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of: Uh, should be an eggplant. But he or she is certainly not an eggplant.

Upcoming appointments: 8/17 with the OB. Crossing my fingers to schedule the c-section.

How are you feeling: Ok but not great.

Rants / Raves: So, the in-laws came and went. But, of course, not without some good ol Catholic guilt! MIL has a PHD in the subject.... I put my foot down and told DH that they were not coming to the hospital. They could could meet Little Bean when we were released. (And to be fair, we decided that no one outside of the kids would be visiting at the hospital.) So he tells his parents this and the first thing out of MIL's mouth was "So we're not going to get to meet the baby at all??". DH had to reiterate to her that those words NEVER came out of his mouth and that we were just saying that no one was going to be coming to the hospital. Pretty sure she's not happy. But it puts me at ease.

I had my MFM appointment last week. Baby is healthy, happy and active. We also got a surprise when this kid was measured. Now, I know that measurements are only an estimate however....this child is measuring 2 weeks ahead. Average weight around 28 weeks is 2lbs 4oz I believe they said. Baby is an overachiever estimated to be 3lbs 9oz. :open_mouth: Thank heaven for c-sections!! Also, the tech surprised us and did some 3D pictures. We've never had 3D before and it was amazing! Baby looks just like DD#2 with their chunky cheeks!

    Questions: none

GTKY: If you could have 1, which one would you choose? Personal chef, personal trainer, personal housecleaner, or personal assistant?: 100% a personal housecleaner.

Eggplant and as long as a toaster oven lol

    Upcoming appointments:

Tomorrow morning to start my every two week appointments

    How are you feeling:

    Good

    Rants / Raves:

Rants: having to get up every couple hours to pee 😂

Raves: my older kids started school this week so we are finally getting back in a routine and I’m officially in the 3rd trimester!

    Questions:

    None

GTKY: If you could have 1, which one would you choose? Personal chef, personal trainer, personal housecleaner, or personal assistant?:

Personal house cleaner for sure! I hate cleaning with a passion. I do it because I have to not because I want to. I mean I want to live in a clean house I just don’t want to be the one to do it lol

  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: November 26th; 25+3

    FTM/STM/STM+: 4TM

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Surprise

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of: Prairie dog

Upcoming appointments: In a couple weeks - just had 1 yesterday

How are you feeling: The 3rd trimester aches and pains are coming for me. My back is hurting by the end of the day, but I haven't slowed down yet. I feel good other than that.

Rants / Raves: Raves: We had a good appointment yesterday. I'm measuring on track, and baby's heartbeat sounded good. DS1 was with me for that appointment too, and he absolutely loves listening to the heartbeat. I also signed paperwork for a tubal ligation in the event of a c-section, so I'm glad that is taken care of now. Rants: My parents were supposed to pick up DS1 and DS2 for the weekend to go to the fair. DS2 decided he doesn't want to go without me, so instead of a quieter weekend knocking out more projects on my list, I'll be going to their house on Friday after work for the weekend. DS2 really wants to go to the fair, but he told me he's not going without me. I've always told them, if the visit was optional (aka I didn't need them to go so I could work), then they don't have to go. My parents have 1 guest bed, and odds are DS2 is going to want to sleep with DS1 and me, so no clue how that's going to work with a queen bed.

    Questions:

GTKY: If you could have 1, which one would you choose? Personal chef, personal trainer, personal housecleaner, or personal assistant?: At this point in my life, I would take the personal housecleaner, but I could really use a personal assistant lol. Before we moved, we had a cleaning lady who came every other week, and it was amazing. I miss her lol.

  • @UnwritteN12 I'm glad your visit went okay, and the birth boundaries have been set. Hopefully they don't just keep poking at it until baby is here. The 3D ultrasounds are my favorite part! I never know when they're coming, and always a welcomed surprise.
@ohsmith Our kids start school next week. DS2 is starting pre-K, and it'll be good for him, but I'm nervous about how he's going to acclimate. It's crazy to me that 3rd trimester is already here for some of us - I have another couple weeks before I join everyone lol.
  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: 11/29, 25w0d

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Surprise

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of: eggplant

Upcoming appointments: In 3 weeks for the glucose test

How are you feeling: Physically good! But a bit stressed with getting stuff ready for back to school. We are still in chaos from the move and I'm teaching a new class in the fall semester that I am not prepared for!

Rants / Raves: Even though there is still a lot of chaos from moving, my husband and MIL have made really good progress on some things. Our office is fully set up (which involved laying down floors and painting), which is perfect timing with the fall semester starting in 2 weeks. I'm excited that things are slowly coming together!

Now we are debating which room to make the baby room and which room to make the guest room. We have one small room and one large room to pick from. My husband and I disagree on which room should be which, so that's kind of annoying lol.

I think this weekend we are going to make a morning trip down to the beach, which we haven't done yet. I'm excited!

Questions: How crazy would it be to get a new dog right now? We've always been a 2 dog family and our dog passed away in January. We've been casually looking since and we found a dog that is seriously a twin for our old dog.

GTKY: If you could have 1, which one would you choose? Personal chef, personal trainer, personal housecleaner, or personal assistant?:

1000000000% a personal housecleaner. Cleaning is just the worst and absolutely my least favorite thing about being an adult. I am planning to hire a biweekly cleaner closer to the birth to get us through the first few months (and maybe longer 😅) because with my first I absolutely did not have the capacity to keep things clean.

  • @fitandnerdy Which room are you voting for to make the nursery? I'd vote for the bigger room, but it'd also depend on how often/many guests you have at one time. I vote for adopting the dog. You've got approximately 15 weeks to get him or her settled in the house lol. I also vote for the cleaning person. We had one before we moved, and she was fantastic. I hired her to clean our house before DS1's 2nd birthday party, and she cleaned until we sold the house.
  • @makingbacon my vote is for the larger room. we rarely have guests whereas we will be in the nursery constantly. having the extra space to walk around and rock the baby will be good. my husband wants the smaller room because he wishes we would have made our daughter's room the larger room and doesn't think it's fair to give the baby the biggest room. Our daughter is 3 and she has no concept of one room being larger than the other, so I don't really think that's a valid point... and her room is plenty big - it's just slightly smaller than the large room. But we've already painted her room purple, so we can't easily switch her room anymore.

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Boy 💙

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of: the head of Thor’s hammer

    Upcoming appointments: 9/11

How are you feeling: just huge

Rants / Raves: DH took the day off yesterday and we took the kids to a kid amusement park! Everyone had a blast and they were the perfect ages for it at 6 & 3! Luckily DS1 is tall enough to ride alone bc I wasn’t able to ride hardly anything… I was so exhausted after the day though bc it was 4 hours in the car (2 each way) and then we were there from open to close so about 7 hours… I barely outlasted the kids falling asleep last night!

Questions: anyone else not love their OB office?

I’m frustrated bc my 4 week appointments have been more like 6 weeks apart due to their scheduling and I know I’m supposed to start every 2 week appts at 30 weeks but my 28 week appointment isn’t until almost 30 weeks so I don’t see how they’re going to make this work… I’ll essentially either be going back the same week or miss one appointment I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ also they told me I’d be rotating to meet all the midwives and OBs so I’d have at least seen them all once before delivery but so far I’ve only seen the same nurse practitioner at every visit… so I’ve yet to meet anyone who might deliver my baby… I’m just anxious I guess but also feel like it’s too late to switch.

GTKY: If you could have 1, which one would you choose? Personal chef, personal trainer, personal housecleaner, or personal assistant?: personal housecleaner… I’m so far behind in cleaning right now, I’m both considering hiring a professional until after baby comes and too embarrassed to hire a professional 🙈

@varimama Will they let you schedule more than 1 appointment at a time? I had scheduling issues with my last doctor's office. I'm with you on not loving my current OB office and the local hospital. I'm hoping to make it through my 6-week pp check and then switch to a non-local office for my yearly exams.
@fitandnerdy Will this nursery stay as the baby's room as they grow? When we had room options, we always gave kids the bigger rooms. My sister is older than me, but her room was bigger than mine growing up, and I don't remember it bothering me.
  • @makingbacon for at least a few years. Depends on if/when a #3 would come along. If there is a 3, and 1 and 2 are the same gender, we’d probably have them bunk up so we could still have a guest room. If not, we would keep them separate and lose a guest room while baby is in a nursery until they’re old enough to share with 1 or 2. So basically, we’ll probably play room shuffle in the future anyway if there’s a #3. If there’s no #3, it would stay their room until we move from this house

    FTM/STM/STM+: our 3rd babe

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: boy 💚🧡🩵

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of: I stopped keeping track lol but his movements are bigger so he’s getting big 🥰

Upcoming appointments: Monday 8/21– 28 week appt, sept 5th is my growth scan and I’m so excited to see my sweet boy again!!

How are you feeling: I feel like my morning sickness has slightly come back but it’s not too bad. Mostly when I eat sweets which was how my last pregnancy was all the way through to the end.

Rants / Raves: I had my gestational diabetes test yesterday, opted for fresh test because glucola makes me throw up, and I PASSED the one hour!!! I failed it last pregnancy so I’m thrilled that I passed the first time this time lol

    Questions: none at the moment

GTKY: If you could have 1, which one would you choose? Personal chef, personal trainer, personal housecleaner, or personal assistant?: I feel like it’s because I’m pregnant that I’m saying this lol but personal chef all the way! I love good foods. A plus would be if the chef taught me how to cook better foods myself haha I love cooking but I usually stick to easy/basic meals and rarely go out of my comfort zone. I’m too afraid of messing up everyone’s meal lol

  • LOL I just read everyone’s responses and it looks like I’m the only one who didn’t say personal house cleaner 😂 is it strange that I have really enjoyed cleaning lately??? Maybe it’s me nesting but I’ve been really into cleaning every day. My house is the cleanest it’s been since my 2 year old was born haha I’ll trade cleaning someone’s house if you’re a good cook and want to cook me some delicious meals 😆
  • @makingbacon I’m definitely going to ask again if I can schedule multiple. So far they’ve said no bc they can’t schedule an appointment until whoever I saw last puts in the order for it and she’s only been putting in the order for 1 at a time 🙄 I’m sorry you don’t love yours either, I think I’m going to do the same, stick with them until 6 weeks postpartum then switch for annual appointments

@ashsowers2020 I’ll make that trade with you! I’ve been loving cooking, baking, and trying to make new foods lately!

    Baby # 4

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise:

    It’s a girl

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of:

Baby is the size of a New England cottontail rabbit

    Upcoming appointments:

Twice a week biophysical profiles and non stress tests on Mondays and Thursdays…. My appointment today resulted in me being sent to the hospital… again… This time because of high protein in urine plus blood pressure.

    How are you feeling:

    Exhausted. Headaches. Bleh.

    Rants / Raves:

I’m tired of being in the hospital. I was here for 4 days last week too (I don’t think I posted an update last week…). We missed my daughter’s meet the teacher event while I was here (thankfully they let us come by Monday the day before school started so she could still get to meet her teacher one on one and get her supplies there instead of lugging it all on her first day). I managed to be able to be released the day of her 8th birthday so I could celebrate with her. She was trying really hard to be understanding of it all and bracing herself for me not being there (she’s such a good girl, y’all) but I know how much it meant to her for me to actually be there with her.

    Questions:

    Idk

GTKY: If you could have 1, which one would you choose? Personal chef, personal trainer, personal housecleaner, or personal assistant?:

I could for sure use a house cleaner.

  • @chrissdee so sorry to hear your appointment resulted in another hospitalization. Sending prayers and good vibes your way.

We had our 28wk appointment today. All good. Baby's weight is 2lbs 13oz (which seems a lot at 28 weeks!) and the head measurement is that of a 32 weaker. My wife is worried baby will be huge. It also means we are nervous waiting for the result of todays gluccose test. Baby is still breach and placenta is still anterior.

Hoping you get to go home healthily soon
  • Oh, @chrissdee! I’m so sorry to hear that you’re back in the hospital, again!! Are they thinking it might be early signs of pre-e? I know you prob don’t want to even think about that being a possibility, but the symptoms align with it. I’m praying you get to go home soon and that you and baby stay healthy and safe! you’re in the home stretch! Not too much longer for you. Hang in there, mama!
  • @varimama That's crazy they have to write an order for you to schedule appointments! I just told them I wanted to schedule them out, and they let me.
@chrissdee I'm so sorry you ended up in the hospital again. That is so nervewracking. Happy birthday to your daughter! I'm so glad you were able to be there for her birthday.
@ashsowers2020 I don't mind cleaning, but I live with 3 tiny terrors who are professional mess makers, and a husband who has gotten really used to me working from home. I started trying new recipes a few years ago, and I just made the rule if it was gross, we were ordering pizza lol.
  • @ashsowers2020 that is exactly what they were thinking. Thankfully, the 24 hour urine catch came back with normal protein levels and my blood pressure stayed well under control while I was in the hospital (of course, it always does when I'm confined to a bed -- it's when I get home and have kids all over me and I have to do all the things that it gets out of whack again). I was released late Saturday evening. I'm just at a point that I'm having anxiety every time I go in for an appointment not knowing if I'll be going home that day and just praying they don't find another reason to send me to the hospital. This is an emotional roller coaster.
