1st Trimester

Brown Spotting at 7 Weeks

Hi, first pregnancy here. I've had 3 days of light brown spotting. I keep reading that it's normal in the first trimester, but could use some reassurance... anybody else experiencing this? I couldn't get my first ultrasound until 10 weeks and the wait is not fun haha. Thanks!

Re: Brown Spotting at 7 Weeks

  • Hi. I have brown spotting too at about 7 weeks with cramping as well. Had it going on 3 days. It is totally freaking me out! I'm going for ultrasound tomorrow

  • Ladies, brown blood is old dried out blood. It is not active bleeding. Its the remnants of old blood that was never fully shed from your uterus the last time you had your period, or it could be from irritation like sex and never exited your body until now.

How did the ultrasound go? 🙏🙏🤞🙏
  • I'm 5 weeks and 4 days. I had a smear once or twice but it's not continuous. It definitely takes your breathe away. Everyone keeps telling me it's normal. I have to wait till 9 weeks and a couple days for mine- the wait is the worst. I feel like I'm back in the dreaded two week wait! Wishing you all the best.
  • Hi! I’m 8 weeks and 1 day now. I started spotting brown (only when I wipe, not enough to even stain a panty liner) about 4 days ago. I called my DR and they said it’s normal as long as I don’t have serious cramping or it doesn’t turn bright red. My first US isn’t until week 10 and it’s also killing me! I’m wishing you all good answers and healthy pregnancies 🤞🏼🤞🏼
  • I’m at 9 weeks and have spotted the entire time, but baby has a heartbeat and is measuring exactly right. Sometimes it’s just irritation from things like sex, a transvaginal ultrasound, progesterone suppositories, or sometimes it has no explanation but everything is fine. If you’re not soaking a maxi pad every hour for 4 hours straight, no reason to panic even though it’s difficult!
