2nd Trimester

Low Iron

27 weeks pregnant and just found out I’m low iron.
I’ve started reading the risks and have totally freaked myself out now (stillbirth, maternal death, severe hemmorage etc)

Aside from taking iron pills now, anything else I can do to help prevent the serious side effects?

Just how common is this?

Re: Low Iron

  • You could focus on increasing high iron foods.

  • I had low iron at 28 weeks and was considered anemic..  was placed on an iron supplement.. delivered a healthy baby at 40 weeks with no complications.. talk to your ob about possibly iron supplement or increasing with diet

Don't give it another thought until you try iron supplements for a while and get your blood rechecked, it's very manageable.
