GTKY 7/4

Since it's Independence Day in the US, what is your favorite holiday and how do you like to celebrate?

Re: GTKY 7/4

  • Halloween for sure. Watching scary movies with hubs and cute Disney movies with #1.ย

  • Basic here: Christmas!ย

We bake a lot, watch movies, go to various light displays, and each evening we do an Advent devotion together as a family โค๏ธ.ย

@stashattack I hated Halloween until I had a kid! Now it's fun to see him get dressed up and go trick or treating. Love seeing him dump his candy at the end of the night and count it lol

@stashattack Halloween for me too! I love decorating with all of the spooky things and dressing up. Iโ€™m so excited for next Halloween to dress up this little one and go trick-or-treating! I also love the horror movies, apple/pumpkin flavored everythingโ€ฆjust the whole Halloween vibe is my thing.
  • @clt2pwm11 I was the opposite with Christmas. I used to enjoy the holiday but having an Xmas baby has definitely changed the vibe of Xmas for us. It's definitely shifted our focus and that has caused some tension with some family ๐Ÿ™„

  • @stashattack That makes sense. I am secretly relieved that I will have a c section at 37 weeks so the Christmas holiday won't be totally upended ๐Ÿ˜‚. Plus my dad already has a Christmas Eve birthday.ย

  • Late to the party but it's Thanksgiving for me! I just love food, what can I say?! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Plus my birthday is early December, so we used to celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday and my birthday on Saturday. My grandparents were often there, which was extra nice. It made my December birthday special, which is hard to do. With my first two kids I've gotten much more into the Christmas spirit, but I'm a little nervous how that will work with a (potential) Christmas baby. Probably won't be an issue for a few more years, so I guess we have time to adjust!
