Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o July 3

This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (if you've been):

How are things going?:

Any questions?:

GTKY: To my American friends, what are your plans for July 4?

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o July 3

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): N/A

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): IVF ICSI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): I did my ER yesterday morning, they retrieved 6 eggs. Out of the 6, 3 were mature enough and 2 fertilized normally. Here’s hoping they continue to grow! I’m taking Prometrium 3 times a day now and going for acupuncture the day of the transfer.

How are things going?: Just playing the waiting game now. Hopefully ET is this Friday.

Any questions?: None at the moment.

GTKY: To my American friends, what are your plans for July 4? I’m Canadian but I wish you all
    a Fourth of July!

Diagnosis (if you've been): officially: unexplained, unofficially: LP defect (temps not staying high)

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Natural cycle with acupuncture

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): H and I doing acupuncture

How are things going?: Idk. Acupuncture did affect my LP by making it longer, but my temps still dropped off instead of staying high the whole time so we’ll see what my acupuncturist says about that at my next appointment

    Any questions?: Nope

GTKY: To my American friends, what are your plans for July 4? There was a mass shooting at a parade near us last year on the 4th, so we’ll be staying home this year to be safe. Plus it’s going to be way too hot to go do anything anyway.

ETA: Happy Belated Canadian Day @tangiblycool!
  • @tangiblycool Grow embryos grow! ❤️

Diagnosis (if you've been): DOR, RPL

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): off the bench, yay!!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): just luteal phase progesterone this cycle, will add ovulation induction next cycle

How are things going?: Feeling optimistic. It looks like I had a nice ovulation without drugs this cycle. I am having a lot of pressure/pain around my ovary and it reminds me of what ovulation felt like when I was younger, so that’s exciting. My RE is treating my subclincial hypothyroid, and we’ll start medicated cycles next month. It’s officially been 2 years we’ve been trying (started in July 2021) and I am so ready for my take home baby.

Any questions?: Any tips from progesterone pros? My RE warned me that it can get messy…

GTKY: To my American friends, what are your plans for July 4? We live in a popular beach vacation spot with a famous fireworks show, so the name of the game for us this weekend is staying home. It took me 25 minutes to get to the grocery store that is 7 minutes away yesterday! (I know, who goes to the grocery store on the 3rd of July?! My husband talked me into it!)
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): blocked left tube, lupus anticoagulant antibodies, repeat pregnancy loss.

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): waiting on genetic testing from our most recent loss, getting all our ducks in a row financially for the next steps.

How are things going?: we found out the insurance may not cover the genetic testing prior to implantation as part of ivf. I need to call them today- the doctors office said some do, some don’t, and it can depend on the diagnosis. If the most recent test shows my loss was due to genetic abnormalities the insurance might cover it, if that’s something they ever do. So I need to make some calls and ask questions.

If that isn’t covered it sounds like it’s prohibitively expensive and of dubious effectiveness (which is why insurance doesn’t cover sometimes) so we probably won’t do it. The rest of ivf would be covered, but I don’t know if there is a point at that point.

We have an appointment with a RE in Boston on the 7th of august to go over our options.

I’m thinking if everything is normal we may ask to switch to clomid instead of the femara we used, add lovenox immediately on a positive test (my ob was waiting until my first ultrasound to add it) and scale back the medication I need for hyperemesis. I was assured it’s all very safe, and the alternative is intravenous fluids and occasional hospitalization but after so many losses I want to try something different.

    Any questions?:

GTKY: To my American friends, what are your  plans for July 4? We just worked on the house we just bought. We didn’t really feel like celebrating.

  • @tangiblycool fingers crossed for amazing growth!
@maggiemadeit the tourists here have been back in force too! We stopped at a little roadside ice cream place and looked around - we were the only local plates! 😂

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): on our own

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): seed cycling, giving it the ol’ college try ;)

How are things going?: pretty good. +OPK yesterday, so now we’ll see how long my LP is!

    Any questions?: nope

GTKY: To my American friends, what are your plans for July 4? Hanging out, bbq, to bed early!
  • @tangiblycool fx for growing embies!
@britters314 curious to hear what they say about the temps vs length of LP!
@maggiemadeit panty liners, for sure! And time it so your evening dose (if you’ll be 2x per day) is right before bed.
@charmedlifex3 sorry to see you back here :( I hope that you get some answers quickly and that insurance will
    cover testing for you!
  • ET today! We had one embryo make it to the blastocyst stage so I’m quite happy. Now the dreaded wait…
  • @tangiblycool you only need one! Hopefully THIS one is the one!

  • @tangiblycool So excited for you! Sending all the positivity and hope for the best possible outcome! Take good care during the long wait!
