Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: Kale/Diameter of a Large Domino's pizza

Upcoming appointments: This Wednesday GD test, next Monday (and every Monday until birth!) IvG infusion,Β  July 13 - Pertussis vaccine, August 2 - ultrasound + OB/MFM

How are you feeling: good! I will be so slow this summer πŸ˜… it's hot so I just walk very slowly everywhere. I also have pretty bad heartburn, which I think I had with my son as well.

Rants / Raves: I'm sorry I'm participating on such an intermittent basis!

Questions: Is anybody done with the nursery?

GTKY: If you had a warning label, what would yours say? Lacks Empathy πŸ™„

  • @AmMcc12 I have a few bras from Motherhood Maternity and a couple from a brand called Cake. They're all nursing/maternity and are stretchy with no underwire.Β

@mimser Nope 😬 The nursery is still my office. The crib is in there but so is my desk. We'll see when that changes. I feel so much further behind than I was with our first!

    Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: October 1 / 27 + 2

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: romaine lettuce

    Upcoming appointments: Ultrasound next weel

How are you feeling: Pretty good, some hip pain but overall pretty good.

Rants / Raves: I just came back from a long weekend with my family who does not understand that a vacation with a toddler isn't really a vacation. His schedule is still his schedule, even when we're at a cottage. Very irritating, especially when people were surprised every time we had specific needs. And then my kid was carsick on the way home.

    Questions:

GTKY: If you had a warning label, what would yours say? May be larger than she thinks she is. My belly is starting to hit things.

  • @AmMcc12 yaaas to all the dresses and rompers! I wish I had good advice about bras. All my comfortable ones are getting tight around the ribcage and I don't want to buy new ones. For postpartum, I am a fan of Kindred Bravely bras.

@mimser "Lacks empathy" made me lol (probably because I can relate haha). I think people's expectations of what empathy *should* look like is often unrealistic, so πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ
I definitely have not set up a nursery for new baby yet...mostly because she will be in our room for the first few months and then the plan is that she will share a room with her older sister. We will figure out all that later haha.

@sawasap ugh, I get so frustrated with family members who don't understand baby/toddler schedules. ESPECIALLY the ones that have had kiddos (ahem, parent in-laws)!! My MIL is always trying to invite us over for dinner at like 7pm... does she not remember what bedtime is like with a wee one?

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: a cantaloupeΒ

Upcoming appointments: today! Wrap-up anatomy scan and OB check in

How are you feeling: tired and hot. πŸ₯΅ This summer is going to be tough!

Rants / Raves: we are attempting to buy a house and move before my due date... is this insane? Probably.

Questions: Are any of you making a labor playlist? I didn't do this the first time but I want to this time. I need ideas!

GTKY: If you had a warning label, what would yours say? Nicer than she first appears. 😬

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: grapefruit

Upcoming appointments: next week physical therapy, following week at ob I think I have to do the diabetes test

How are you feeling: sleeping very little. Carpal tunnel, sore legs, heartburn... and the toddler isn't always napping. Even his daycare naps are getting shorter... I'm not ready.Β

Rants / Raves: lots of baby movement has been exciting! I'm having to come to terms with the way that even though my energy has returned, I'm not exactly physically capable to return to normal activity. A few days I ended up with sore knees.Β

Questions: STM/+, have you thought yet about coordinating care for your other children when you go into labor? I just started realizing I will have to think about this...

GTKY: If you had a warning label, what would yours say? "Might not actually be listening..." (sorry, adhd is bad sometimes lol)

  • @mimser we have to move rooms around before I can officially start the nursery, but I've started buying small things. I'm thinking of going with somewhat of a simple but eclectic bird theme? Like, different birds that might not necessarily match.Β

@AmMcc12 I'm wearing a couple Auden nursing bras from Target. Also wearing a couple random sports bras that my mom got me, that didn't fit her. I might look into other brands eventually because the sizing at Target is limited, but it's so hard to figure out what size I need....

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: an eggplant

    Upcoming appointments: next week

How are you feeling: uncomfortable, tossing and turning in bed most nights

Rants / Raves: my toddlers premolars are coming in, we've had a few restless nights the past few days, trying to hold onto sleep as much as I can

    Questions: none

GTKY: If you had a warning label, what would yours say? I'm not sure πŸ˜‚ maybe "cannot make good movie decisions" growing up we would rent movies for vacation every year and whenever I was in charge I would pick the strangest, low budget movies. I didn't even enjoy them in the end, but the synopsis looked interesting, and for some reason they were all sci-fi though I didn't intend it that way.Β

@mimser no nursery for us. Baby will be staying in our room and then moving in with older sibling once they are old enough. Though I have been ordering baby products and upgrading furniture in anticipation!Β

@alpacamama2 usually if I'm stressed, background music makes me even more stressed and unable to concentrate. Are you thinking about soothing songs/sounds or upbeat encouraging tracks?Β

@lindz42 since my husband can't drive my parents will be on call anyways. I was assuming one of them would stay with our oldest but I should probably look into it more since if baby comes during a week day it's ridiculous to have both of them leave work. Our birth centre has a family room with toys and snacks so probably if no one is available to stay home with the kid we will bring them along and they will hang out with whichever of my parents drove in the family room.Β
  • @linh18 So I tried the whole soothing music thing the first time. It was ok. I found some great singing bowl music that was nice for the beginning of labor but i think i turned it off when things really got rolling. But this time I think I want something upbeat and distracting. Something fun!

@alpacamama2 do you like musicals? If you do some of your favorites might be a source of some fun music with some good memories attached as well.Β
  • @linh18 oooh peeping in to say that musicals would be so fun if you have one you like! Otherwise, perhaps if you have a music streaming service, you could try out different pre-made playlists. I'm a moody music listener, but lately I've been gravitating towards 80s-90s pop or soft rock. I've also liked the Spotify playlist called Beast mode when I'm trying to get something done. But I have no idea what would be good for labor and delivery...Β
  • @linh18 @lindz42. I do love musicals but I don't know if that is the right vibe for labor for me. Like now I'm imagining "seventy six trombones" playing while I pop this baby out πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
I have pretty random taste in music. I love 90s alternative rock but I also love music to dance to. I am leaning more towards dance music for labor. My daughter is currently obsessed with Lizzo's About Damn Time ( just imagine an 18month old shaking her hips to that song πŸ˜‚..so cute!) so that might be the inspiration for the rest of this play list.Β
  • @alpacamama2 I'll probably use the same playliat I used for my last labour. Lots of indie pop/rock, very upbeat. I just listened to a ton of music and added things that I felt had the right vibe. We also brought a soft light that had a multicolour setting so the nurses called our room the party room.
  • @sawasap I brought a galaxy light with me last time and the nurses loved it πŸ˜„
