    Weeks: 15.5
Baby is the size of a navel orange
    Team: healthy baby!
Upcoming appointments: cervical length ultrasound on Friday. I'm excited to see little bean on the screen. I'm so grateful for this extra surveillance this pregnancy. Really gives me some peace of mind.
How are you feeling: miserable. I caught strep and I feel like death. I honestly thought I had the flu. The body aches were so painful, especially in my hips. Somehow strep triggered my heartburn which made me vomit more. Lordy what a rough few days.Thankful for TUMS!
Raves/Rants: the minute clinic prescribed me Keflex and the side effects are awful. I'm loopy and tired. I'm not sure if this is exacerbated by pregnancy or if I would feel like this anyway. Some antibiotics do me this way. Also annoyed that we drove 6 hours to my best friend's house to spend the weekend with them and then I woke up sick as a dog and spent the whole weekend in their bed. At least my son had a great time playing with their kid and I was able to rest.
Questions: anyone else needed an antibiotic while pregnant so far? Just curious if you had weird side effects.

Baby is the size of a(n): peach

Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: no clue!

Upcoming appointments: August 1st - anatomy scan and find out gender!

How are you feeling? Pretty good! No more nausea, unbearable fatigue, or being ravenous  every 30 min-1 hr HOWEVER the nausea has been replaced by terrible cluster headaches that come on as soon as I get out of bed. For the first few days, I tried Tylenol and lots of water or even a little bit more caffeine than my big cup of coffee and nothing helped. Tried magnesium per ob's orders and couldn't tell much difference until recently. The headache will subside if I CHUG a bunch of water after my cup of coffee in the morning but will get almost phantom-like pains. Still get a little tired and worn out and try to listen to my body and rest.

    Raves/Rants:

Questions: Has anyone else dealt with terrible headaches as they shift into the 2nd trimester? I'm wondering if it's the changes in hormones because I haven't changed anything in my diet or medications. All of my hemoglobin levels are normal.

Baby is the size of a(n): lightbulb

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: pink

Upcoming appointments: Check up on the 11th, anatomy scan on the 27th

How are you feeling? Fine. Which is... weird :D I'm so glad I can feel baby moving because otherwise I barely feel pregnant.

Raves/Rants: I'm off and using the time to check a bunch of baby To-dos off my list. I just washed all of our newborn clothes - I'd forgotten how cute newborn clothes are <3

Questions: Does anyone know of a brand that makes good quality (e.g. warm, thicker material) baby clothes? I only need a few items, but I'd like to make sure they're warm and cozy for a winter baby :)

  • In my experience babygap has thicker onesies than other similar brands. Zara has really nice knits if you can spend a bit more or wait for a sale.

  • @booksandicecream I've always found that Carter's fleecy material is super nice! And their stuff hasn't failed me yet!

@jordieburd headache can be normal but if it's not resolving, I'd check your BP. It can be a sign of hypertension. Do you have a BP cuff at home?

Baby is the size of a(n): Pomegranate

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: Pink!

Upcoming appointments: Anatomy scan on 7/17 - very excited to see her again!

How are you feeling? Pretty good; I've been feeling some movement this week, so that's super exciting.  I couldn't tell if that's what it was at first, but it's definitely what I'm feeling.

Raves/Rants: I've been feeling completely unprepared lately... I know we still have plenty of time, but we don't have a room picked for the nursery, I have like 3 outfits, and I feel like we should have more done by now.  It's just been tough because one of our cats was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive cancer at the end of May and she has just been going downhill rapidly.  Most of our energy has been going into keeping her comfortable and trying to decide if it's the right time to let her go.

Questions: What are the first things I should be focused on getting ready as a FTM? I feel like I don't even know where to begin...

@jordieburd Ugh, I've been waking up with awful headaches too.  I can't tell if it was my allergies or pregnancy related, but I'm over it.

    @stashattack Yay for closing!

@dmcg17 Is someone throwing you a shower? If so, I wouldn't sweat buying things until after that. A lot of registries give you a discount to "complete your purchases" after your shower. It's a great way to save a little extra and use those gift cards!! I have purchased a few things used off the marketplace (like a baby play table and some sleep sacks and gowns). I'm not sure if anyone will throw me a shower, but my first purchase will be a car seat and the adapter for the Bob Stroller.

I'm borrowing a lot from a friend, but I'm not going to start setting it up until 23/24 weeks. This is really morbid, but since my first came so incredibly early, I'm still cautiously optimistic for this one. If I put all that stuff up and then had to take it down after a loss, I would be even more devastated. This is definitely our last shot at a baby though. If I were younger and had more time, I would buy the things and not think twice.

  • @booksandicecream I agree with @stashattack on carters fleece zip up clothes. Be prepared for shrinkage if you don't wash and dry on delicate!

@stashattack yes I have a blood pressure cuff, I keep saying I need to check it in the mornings and always forget. They've finally started subsiding, but I'm going to keep checking it-especially if the headaches come on.

@dmcg17 I'm so sorry about your kitty! I had a cat diagnosed with a sudden and aggressive cancer and ended up having him put down shortly after the diagnosis. It was so sad bc I thought I was taking him to the vet for a quick fix and I was devastated because he was still fairly young. The decision to ease his suffering was made when he wasn't even comfortable enough to lay on my lap or snuggle the way he used to. I hope you're able to come to peace with whatever decision you make and have good closure with her.
As far as your new bundle of joy coming, I would start with just making a wishlist of what you want because I'm sure SOMEONE you're close to is going to end up offering to throw you a baby shower, and then you can create a registry off of that. Important things to think about are carseat/travel system, pack'n'play and or bassinet (I got a pack n play with a bassinet add on and really liked it) Don't stress about too many clothes right now since stuff in stores probably doesn't have much winter friendly baby things, but first days/weeks necessities you can get are sleeper gowns (easier for embilicle cord healing) and zip up sleepers. Maybe just a few newborn sized clothes bc they don't wear them long, focus more on 0-3 month.
