  • Dr Harvey Karp has a book The Happiest Baby. He talks about the 5 Ss: swaddling, shushing, swinging, sucking and side/stomach position. I’ve found that when I give my swaddled daughter a pacifier (sucking) and turn her on her side it’s like a total reset. She loves the white noise too set to 60-70 decibels which Dr Karp recommends despite some articles saying not to exceed 50. I hope this is helpful!

  • I’ve have three children, my youngest is 7 weeks and they all had a hard time settling around 5-7pm (their witching hours). When nothing is working for my youngest, I hold him in my arms and I sit on my exercise ball, bouncing gently. No matter what, he always stops crying. It’s a little exhausting but it helps him feel more comfortable. I’ve had friends tell me getting in the car for a drive has helped them with a fussy babe. Gripe water can also help with with their tummies. For us, it’s always digestive. Their little bodies are still figuring it out and adjusting. Digesting their milk is a big job and they might have sensitivities to things you’re eating(if you’re breast feeding) or cow milk. If you’re formula feeding, there are hypoallergenic formula options (HIPP) and goat milk options from Holle. Tummy massages throughout the day might also help. I hope you find the thing to calm your little one down. It can feel so overwhelming when it’s happening but just know that it’s temporary. You will get through this
  • Hey there!

A few of my go to tricks are:
-Swaddle! Especially the new fancy swaddle sacks they sell now, those work really good and help them stay in the swaddle and nice and warm

-A no fail solution is also a warm bath, with some night time wash, then a little baby massage with some night time lotion or baby oil. I like to rub their feet real good too. Then a feeding. That will have your baby calm and knocked out. 😴

-Skin to skin, with the baby laying tummy to tummy with me and a warm blanket on top with his binkie. This helps him pass gas if its stuck alot of the time if nothing else works. Even rocking back and forth helps.

-You can also wear your baby. I will put mine in the baby carrier if nothing seems to be working usually this gets him to calm down.

    Hopes this helps!
  • Walking and bouncing gently seemed to help out our little one. Also mylicon! We started giving it to her most days starting with her early afternoon feeding and then again during the "witching hour" feeding. I think overnight they digest all the milk in their belly and then slowly throughout the day when eating, it builds up and compounds by evening time creating a colicy, witching hour mess. Ugh I dreaded dinner time for a while. Now it's manageable.
