Night feeding scaries

Nightime feeds scare the crap out of me. My husband sleeps through them and is so hard to wake for help. There’s times where I don’t remember steps in our routine. Did I burp the baby? Did I accidentally fall asleep while feeding? Anyone else feel like night is the worst and they don’t have the support from their spouse during the night?

Re: Night feeding scaries

  • Don't beat yourself for "not getting the steps right".. it's perfectly fine to doze off while the baby is nursing. They love the comfort of their mama next to them. Be careful of course if you're a super heavy sleeper with dropping or squishing the baby etc. But for the most part, cosleeping and feeding while doing so it perfectly fine and healthy.
I found it lonelisome and hard sometimes, but husband felt helpless at night when all baby wanted was to breastfeed, so it make sense for them to get some rest. I found out my husband was more likely to get up and help when babies got older and he could do something to help as well

  • Laying on your side and cuddling your baby while you feed is a great way to nurse in the night in case you do drift off to sleep. But just be super careful and like the previous comment said, dont do it if u sleep heavy. I find its hard for me to sleep hard when Im nursing like this but we are all different.

Sometimes when I am very exhausted I will pump a bottle out, and then bottle feed in the night while standing or walking around so I keep myself awake. That might even help for your husband if you bottle feed in the night of course you still have to pump but… its better to be safe. Good luck! 😌
