NIPT?

Hi everyone! Is anyone considering non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) or have you already had the testing done? I would love to have some peace of mind about my baby’s health, but on the other hand, I don’t want to get all worked up and anxious over the test. My OB doesn’t regularly do NIPT (especially since I am low risk), and instead offers the quad screening around 16 weeks or so. So if I did go through with the NIPT, I might have to pay out of pocket.

Would anyone like to share their thoughts or experiences with this?

Re: NIPT?

  • Hi! So we are opting for the pre-screening that happens between weeks 11-13 and if results come from that we will be in a better place to judge if we want to test further. :)

  • Hi! My OB group recommends the NIPT along with a nuchal translucency scan at 12 weeks for screening. I had it with my last pregnancy and was happy to have the peace of mind. I’ll do it again soon!
  • I am doing both NT scan and Nipt I’ll be 38 this month and we want to make sure we have a healthy fetus
  • I just got our results from our NT test and everything is looking great, we don’t feel the need to go into further testing. It definitely put my mind at ease!
  • I had NIPT done as I am 36, turning 37 in Oct- but have no other high risk factors.  I was anxious about waiting two weeks for the results- but actually just got mine back today after just barely more than a week and all was normal!
  • I had my NIPT done at 12 weeks and already received the results. My nuchal translucency happened the same week so it was nice to get the results back around the same time and have everything show up low risk and we found out the gender!

I already spoke with my doctor about the upcoming 16 week appointment and whether or not I even need to consider amniocentesis given the test results from the NIPT and nuchal were low. Her response was it’s up to you if you want that type of diagnostic information.
  • anyone have their NIPT test done at 9 weeks 6 days? My doctor scheduled it for today and then tells me it’s too early lol AFTER they already took my blood. I was like what a joke. They said the results may not be accurate and I would need to retest. I told them it’s one day and to just test what I did today as it’s an inconvenience with work and arranging care for my 3 year old. They said okay. Just wondering if anyone had any issues with results testing a day early??
  • For the record, I did go through with NIPT and we just got our results today. Healthy baby girl!! I’m glad I did it. I tested at 11 weeks 1 day.
  • @zambi28 congrats on the good results!!

I had mine drawn a week ago, results still aren’t back. I don’t want to be annoying but I’m dying to know. Might send my dr a portal message this afternoon to see if they can check on it.
  • I also opted to do NIPT! I got tested at 10w4d and got my results back in 5 days! Negative for everything and have a healthy baby girl! 💕

Ugh I had mine drawn at 11+6, and I still don’t have the results. 14 weeks tomorrow. My drs office said it could take 14 days but they also said they’d call the lab and then let me know and I got no message today. I’m dying to know and it feels like it has been forever!

    (Edit: clarity)
  • No results yet grr this waiting game
  • @kiwimangohoneylemon nope. The lab has screwed it up twice. I just had it drawn again and sent to a different lab. It’s been over 3 weeks. Hopefully next week?
  • @kiwimangohoneylemon hope yours comes back soon!

I got mine back after 8 days from Quest…and over a month since I had the first one drawn. It’s a girl!
