Upcoming appointments: Friday for 16 week OB

How are you feeling? Better! I still have some nausea some evenings and still nap most days but it’s improving! And I can eat some sweets again!

Rants / Raves: So excited to be having boy #3! Since this is our last baby it means I’m officially a boy mom! Only downside is coming up with another boy name. For the first two it felt so easy, we discussed a couple names and then one just felt right. This time we have a list of 6 we both like and I don’t know how to narrow it down!

    Questions: none

GTKY: What're you looking forward to this summer? Our Disney Cruise in July! It’ll be both boys first time on a plane and DH’s first time on a cruise. I haven’t been on a cruise in 15 years!

Upcoming appointments: 6/16 with mfm for my anatomy scan/finding out if we’re having a boy or girl. Then 6/28 for my 20 week appt (a week late bc they were booked up the week I should have had an appt).

How are you feeling? You guys, I don’t know how I did it but I MADE IT through the morning sickness and I feel great! Been feeling great for 2 weeks now. Still so tired all the time, though. When does that second trimester energy kick in!?

    Questions: none

GTKY: What're you looking forward to this summer? Harvesting my garden (probably late in the summer since I planted late— thanks to morning sickness!), pool days with my babies, and vaca the end of august.

Pretty good except for getting dizzy and almost passing out. I'm talking to my doctor tomorrow.

Surprise! But my DD keeps calling the baby a girl and I'm rolling with it lol. Feels good.

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of:
    Sweet potatah

    Upcoming appointments:
In 2 weeks for the anatomy scan! Longest wait ever but I also know full-well the time will go by ridiculously fast because end of school year things and beginning of summer things are starting.

    How are you feeling?
Not fantastic. I have a sinus infection/allergies and LAWD I haven't been able to breathe right for over a week. I'm addicted to popsicles.

    Rants / Raves:
I'm having the hardest time trying to figure out summer pregnancy wardrobe. The other times I've been pregnant it was fall and winter, and man was it easier. I'm having to buy so much crap just to try and look less like Adam Sandler on the regular and I'm so not fashionable - I feel like I have to do extensive research on this stuff lol.

On the plus side I have a plethora of bikinis that I've been unable to use for years because of mom pooch that will absolutely come in handy this summer. I never thought I'd be the pregnant person in a bikini but here we are  :D

    Questions:
Are you guys experiencing weight fluctuations? I know I shouldn't be weighing myself daily but dang, some days I gain 3 pounds and then lose it all a few days later. Makes no sense.

GTKY: What're you looking forward to this summer?
Oh man so many things. I can't wait for trips to the beach and the lake. I'll be sad to miss out on summer drinking but hopefully all the many mocktails and virgin pina coladas will make up for it.

  • @varimama Yay for no nausea!! It makes such a big difference. Congrats on boy #3!! Also I'm lowkey jealous of your Disney cruise, I've never been a cruise person but a DISNEY CRUISE that sounds so so fun.

@Kiek Congrats boy mom!! That's so great! You'll have to show us pics of your garden stash one day.

@ashsowers2020 Woohooo bye bye morning sickness!! The energy for me comes and goes, take advantage when it does and don't worry about the rest.

@ohsmith Oh no, I'm glad you're getting checked out for the dizziness and almost passing out! Scary!

  • @ashsowers2020 I feel you on the tiredness! I’m so glad nausea is gone but I still feel like I’m dragging most days

@ohsmith hope your Dr has some things to help with the dizziness!

@mrsmtothek my DD keeps saying it’s her baby sister too. We loved being team green with her but I’m more tempted to find out this time around so I can prepare her for a brother if that’s what it is… but I think we’ll still wait to find out.

    Upcoming appointments:

Just had my nurse intake call with my new OB today and next week for my 16w appt… based on the call today I really liked them, so hopefully I get the same vibe next week!

    How are you feeling?

Pretty good! Tired but not nauseous so I’ll take it

    Rants / Raves:

I’m currently sitting in our new house waiting for my daughters new big girl bed to be delivered. I have to come back tomorrow because we have other furniture getting delivered tomorrow. I tried to coordinate so they’d arrive on the same day since it takes 1.5 hours to get here from our current house, but of course something had to show up early. So now I’ll have to come back tomorrow too… The house is empty and we don’t have internet yet, so I’m trying to find things to get ready but it’s hard

    Questions:

    None

GTKY: What're you looking forward to this summer?

Moving and getting settled in a new community… a trip to Orlando and a trip to the Caribbean (both are to visit ILs… I’m lucky that DH has family in exotic locations, so visiting the ILs is like a vacation)… doing lots of fun summer things with DD since we won’t have childcare in our new location until September (both excited and not excited for this since I technically will also have to work FT)… lots of beach day trips since we’ll be less than an hour to the beach at our new house

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of:

    Upcoming appointments:

This Wednesday for the anatomy scan

    How are you feeling?

This pregnancy has just been hard. I'm having a hard time getting comfortable and staying asleep at this point.

    Rants / Raves:

Don't think DH will be able to be at the anatomy scan tomorrow so, even though I feel like he's being an asshat right now, I'm kinda bummed.

I was able to get a dinner date with my BFF for this week so I'm excited to see her.

    Questions:

    None

GTKY: What're you looking forward to this summer?

Don't really have anything I'm looking forward to at this point. I had to back out of going to New York in August with DD1 and her Girl Scout troop so that stinks. Getting back to normal schedules at the start of the school year - does that count?

    Baby #4

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise:
    It's a girl

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of:
Baby is the size of a Gameboy. Man, that takes me back. I watched the Mario Bros movie with my 7-year-old the other day and told her I used to play Mario on a Gameboy. She asked what it was, and I showed her and she said, "That looks complicated."  :D

    Upcoming appointments:
Anatomy scan next week on 6/15! Looking forward to getting a good look at her.

    How are you feeling?
Overall pretty good. Tired a lot and falling asleep at random inopportune times, but other than that good.

    Rants / Raves:
Still struggling to find affordable plus size maternity pants that aren't jeans or leggings. (I'd love to wear jeans or leggings, but it's not an option at work.) I emailed HR and my supervisor a few days ago to finally ask for a little bit of grace on the dress code, and it wasn't very well received. My supervisor told me I should try the elastic belly bands that help regular pants stay up, because they worked well for her. I have tried those before -- they don't work well for my body type, and I don't expect my boss to understand that. Oh well. Guess it's maxi skirts all the time.

    Questions:
    I've got nothing.

GTKY: What're you looking forward to this summer?
Not so much for me, but for my oldest daughter I'm looking forward to her having the opportunity to spend a few weeks in Alabama with my parents. They live on a farm in a small little lake town and they're just minutes away from my sister and all of her kids, so she's going to have a blast playing with the baby goats, taking care of the horses and chickens, helping in the garden, going fishing and kayaking, and all of the things. I'm going to miss her for sure, but I think it will be so good for her.

  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: November 26th; 15+3

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Surprise

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: yellow canary, avocado

Upcoming appointments: In a couple of weeks

How are you feeling? I feel pretty good overall. I still have random bouts of nausea, but it's slowly resolving itself. I'm now battling a cold, so that has been unpleasant.

Rants / Raves: Raves: DS3 (16 months old) attends PT weekly and will graduate when he starts walking. He has been working really hard the last several weeks, and he's currently able to walk while we hold onto the waistband of his shorts. I am so proud of how much he has accomplished. DS2 also decided a couple weeks ago that he was ready to be completely potty trained. He had some major regression when we moved here, so this has been a huge milestone, and he is doing well enough that he gets to wear training underwear during the day now. DS1 decided he wants to read, so he's been working hard on sounding out letters. I've been holding off on teaching him how to read because I don't feel like I have a good enough grasp on a great way to teach phonics, but if he can get it started, I can definitely help him along. We have been working on math and letters, so he'll be ready for anything kindergarten throws his way in the fall. Rants: I love DH, and he does a lot for me, but a lot of the evening tasks fall on me (wrangle kids for baths, bedtime routine, cook dinner, etc.). I have been miserable the last couple of days with my cold, and I've still had to do almost all the things. Yesterday he added a few extra errands to my list, and the only reason I didn't cry was because I knew it would make all the congestion in my nose worse. I feel well enough to travel to my work event this afternoon, so I'm looking forward to a lazy evening in the hotel room with no responsibilities.

    Questions:

GTKY: What're you looking forward to this summer? We don't really have anything big planned, but I am looking forward to spending 1 last summer with the boys before we have 2 of them in school. DS2 with go to 3's pre-K in the fall, and DS1 will go to kindergarten. It was an adjustment last year to not have the freedom to pick up and take them all with me on work trips because of school. I usually would drop kids off at grandparents' houses and then pick them up on my way back through. We do have a few fun trips planned though, one being a work trip to a water park next month. My sister comes with me to wrangle kids while I work. We've gone the last few years, so the boys are super excited to go. This will be the first time DS3 is old enough to go, but I know he'll enjoy it.

@varimama Congratulations on boy #3! Being a boy mom is super fun. I hear you on thinking of another boy name though. We did okay on the first 3 boys, but we are struggling with figuring out a 4th boy name. We aren't finding out, so the struggle could be for nothing lol. Your Disney cruise sounds like fun!

@Kiek Congratulations on your boy! How are canned green beans? I have always blanched and froze green beans, but I've never canned them. I'm assuming they would be different than the frozen ones?

@ashsowers2020 My 2nd trimester energy is starting to kick in, so hopefully yours kicks in soon! I'm glad you made it through morning sickness - it was rough this time around!

@ohsmith Are you getting dizzy when you're standing or sitting or both? What kind of gender reveal will you do?

@mrsmtothek I hope you feel better soon! This cold has been kicking my butt, and I keep daydreaming about all the medicine I can't take lol. My struggle with pregnancy wardrobes at this point is I'm still at the "Is she pregnant or is she just chubby?" stage. I'm not ready to embrace the pregnant look, so I've been wearing the few shirts that still fit me correctly. If I would embrace the look, we'd probably be fine, but it's hard. I also am having a hard time justifying buying a summer wardrobe because when I'm super pregnant, it will be cold outside.

@fitandnerdy I'm sure you're daughter is so excited for her new bed. We bought DS1 and DS2 bunk beds about 1.5 years ago when preparing for DS3's arrival, and they were so excited. I'm also jealous that your in-laws live in fun vacation places. Mine definitely do not lol.

@UnwritteN12 I hope you are able to get some good sleep soon. I hope dinner with your BFF is super fun!

@chrissdee I remember getting a Gameboy for Christmas. I played that thing forever. That is so funny your daughter said it looks complicated. Your daughter's trip to Alabama sounds like so much fun.

How are you feeling? Finally seem to be out of the woods with the nausea. Still getting constipated though. Exhausted but that’s because I started a new job this week, otherwise energized.

    Rants / Raves:

Rave: started my new job this week working in an Ob-Gyn office!

Rant: still no disability approval from my original job

    Questions: none

GTKY: What're you looking forward to this summer? Family trip to Wisconsin to meet my boyfriends brother & his family. We’re going in July.

  • @chrissdee - I'm sorry you're still having a hard time in the clothing area. I'm plus size as well and was recently looking for some more maternity clothes. I have stuff from my last pregnancy but I just needed a few more staples - capri leggings, plain tops that'll make my tummy look cute (I work from home so there's no dressing up here!). Motherhood maternity doesn't have much but they were having a pretty decent sale recently so I nabbed a couple things that weren't overly pricey (for once). Honestly, I didn't even find much on Amazon that was actually plus size. Maybe try checking Zulily. I was able to find some stuff and they actually have plus sizes in maternity! Just know you're not alone though. It's hard to find decently priced, cute, plus size maternity clothes. :(

  • @UnwritteN12 Thanks for the suggestion -- I didn't even think about Zulily. I went to the mall the other day and apparently sometime between my last pregnancy and now, the Motherhood maternity store here has closed. Whyyy?? And none of the department stores seem to have a maternity section in the actual store -- it's all online. Ughh.
  • @chrissdee Motherhood Maternity closed their stores a couple years ago. They still have some things on their website, but definitely not the selection they used to have. Does Pink Blush maternity have anything? They can be on the more expensive side, but I bought several things during previous pregnancies that held up really well.
  • @varimama - the cruise sounds so lovely! Where is it going?

@kiek - congrats on the boy! So far my boy is only 1.5 but he’s quite different than my girl. I thought diapers would be easier without girl parts but poop just finds new places to get stuck hehehe

@ashsowers2020 - woo hooo! Glad you don’t have the nausea anymore. As for the energy…I’m still looking for it!

@ohsmith - oof. I hope they figure out why you almost passed out. That sounds scary!

@mrsmtothek - I just stick to dresses all summer. Big flowey ones until the bump pops then I do some of the “body con” ones (I cannot get away with these in real life hah!). It’s just so much easier than figuring out shorts/pants. Love that your bikinis are getting a second life ;)

@fitandnerdy - Fingers crossed the new OB is great! Those trips sound lovely

@unwritten12 - Sorry to hear that it’s been so hard. This was my first solo anatomy scan and I was more bummed than I thought I would be. I feel ya.

@chrissdee - Laughing at the comment your daughter had about gameboys - I loooooved mine! The farm sounds awesome !

@makingbacon - Wow! You have so much going on in the raves, such big moments! Go DS1 DS2 and DS3!

@medicmomma6115 - My doc recommended magnesium oxide for the constipation. I kept holding off because I’d rather just not take anything if at all possible but I finally took one the other night, lets just say the past two days have been the smoothest sailing. Might be something to look into if it gets really bad

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: My app says artichoke, but anatomy scan says a week ahead so perhaps a mango

Upcoming appointments: Just had anatomy, so nothing until 7/3 for follow up anatomy and OB

How are you feeling? Much better! I kept putting off taking the magnesium oxide my doctor recommended for constipation. I didn't have a great reason except I hadn't really heard of it before. I took one the other night and WOWIE what a difference :D. My main complaint right now is I have some ancillary breast tissue in my armpits (and even a milk duct in one. cool cool) and they have been aching a lot.

    Rants / Raves:
Rant: I went with the timeframe the MFM office suggested for my anatomy scan, it seemed a early to me (17w5d) but who was I to argue with the MFM office. They do the scans, they set the rules. Then when I arrived, the tech was like - "you're way too early! we probably wont see much." But in the end, they saw pretty much everything except a clear shot of the face. So I will head back in 4 weeks to do another.

Rave: All looking good so far on the anatomy scan. This was the first one I went to alone, so I was a little extra nervous. The tech was super sweet and wrote notes from the baby to my other kids and my husband on the photos she printed. She wrote "HI MOM AND DAD" on one, and "HI DD1 and DS1" on the other. My daughter can recognize her name, so she was over the moon that the baby was saying hello to her. "CAN IT TALK? CAN IT COME OUT NOW?"

Questions: How is this moving all so fast!

GTKY: What're you looking forward to this summer? We are going to try to take the kids abroad. Ideally Italy, but likely where ever we can find cheap flights. They are out of this world expensive right now!

Pretty good overall. Aches and pains mostly. I've had some carpal tunnel pain set in over the last couple of weeks which is unusual for me.
    Raves:
I had my first group midwife appointment this week. It was so cool. I'm in a group of 7 other pregnant moms, all with due dates around the same time. We get all our prenatal visits done together and we get to listen to educators and create a community group. Being a first time mom with no family around, it's going to be great to know some other local moms to build friendships.
    Questions:
Does anyone get their hair dyed when pregnant? As with most things, I see conflicting advice from the internet.

Pretty good.  Tiredness was letting up but it’s been grey and rainy all weekend so I may or may not be on the couch watching a Harry Potter marathon while the laundry real should be moving… lots of aches in my midsection. Feels like I’ve started an ab workout regiment and I promise you I have not.
    Raves:
I finally started putting my registry list together and realized I know nothing about anything so I got the registries from 2 sisters and 1 dear friend who recently had kids and copied them.  Call it cheating - it’s done lol I asked what they didn’t use and removed all that and also deleted duplicates.  Anyway ITS DONE and I hardly had to do anything, figure their kids are all alive and well so if it ain’t broke, why fix it?!? 🤣
    Questions:
Anyone have registry suggestions this FTM may have missed???
GTKY: What're you looking forward to this summer?
My garden!!! It’s basically all in and it’s one of my favorite layouts we’ve ever done, it’s quite dense but we have more flowers than ever - I think it’s going to grow into fern gully and I’m so excited.

@jvbirdgirl - I’m sorry I know nothing about hair dye, maybe ask ur OB??
  • @jvbirdgirl I’m planning on getting highlight foils done in a couple weeks. I figure it won’t actually be touching my scalp so the already low risk is even lower

@stevieraem when we did our registry for our firstborn 10 years ago, we got so overwhelmed my husband started scanning everything pink 😂

my most favorite thing I was given that became my must have item (and it wasn’t on my registry), were prefold cloth diaper inserts. I used them as burp cloths, quick clean up, etc. I remember once my oldest had multiple blow outs in one day while we were out and I ran out of diapers. I was able to shove one of those in her pants to get us home 😂. That girl pooped constantly lol. They are my favorite thing lol.
  • @Kiek I second the cloth diaper burp rags. Those things are so absorbent, and they clean up anything lol. I had someone buy them for me with DS1, and I was so confused why they gave them to me. Those things were life savers.
  • @Kiek and @makingbacon sweet!!! I would have never thought of that!! Thank you guys!!!
  • 100% agree with the cloth diaper inserts for burp (and miscellaneous baby mess) rags.
