Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: a coconut

Upcoming appointments: Final GD test on June 13th and then an ultrasound to check on the heart issue on June 24th

How are you feeling: The belly itch has started. I haven't been on top of moisturizing the way I should be, so need to start doing that. And the kicks have gotten a lot stronger, which is always so reassuring to me.

Rants / Raves: Just a little brag today. We had central air installed last year and had posted our portable A/C for sale but didn't get any offers we liked so it sat in storage for a year. This year, I posted it during the first heat wave, after the first two hot days and just before today's 30+C temperatures. I listed for $300 at 5:30 last night and sold it for $250 at 7:00. And now we're going to spend that to get a 2-camera baby monitor!

Questions: Who here has flown with a toddler? We'll be taking a 4 hour flight in a month, just looking for any tips and tricks!

GTKY: Have you ever walked out of a movie theatre in the middle of a movie? Twice. Once was The Ring 2 because it was just so bad. The other was The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey because some teenagers showed up drunk and drinking and one/some of them threw up all over the floor.

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: a coconut

    Upcoming appointments: in 2 weeks

How are you feeling: pretty good. Spurts of energy here and there but for the most part sleepy and lazy 😅

    Rants / Raves:

Questions: what would be some must haves for becoming a mom to 2 under 2 (or just 2 in general)?

GTKY: Have you ever walked out of a movie theatre in the middle of a movie? We went to see the new Mario movie with our toddler, it was all younger kids there but they still kept the volume way too loud so we had to step out during action scenes, which ended up being for most of the time. Our toddler enjoyed the mirror in the lobby more than the movie 😅

@sawasap I'm also interested in hearing tips for flying with a toddler. We have a big trip coming up in a few months. We flew when he was 3 months (13 hour flight) and that was surprisingly easy because he just cuddled, slept or nursed the whole time.

I've heard to pack many more snacks than you think you will need, which will be a challenge for us because total travel time is 26 hours and he eats like a grown man at times 😂.

I bought some special new toys for the flight that don't take up a lot of room, including a "memory match" board that has windows and thin carton pages so you can reset the game multiple times with different pictures and positions. I'm hoping that will be fun. I also bought some bubble popping fidget toys, a reusable coloring book with a fillable water pen so he can color mess free over and over again. And a cool find was a mini projector it's the size of a small flashlight but has disks you can put in to make different pictures and shine it on the wall.  I'm going to bring some books with peekaboo flaps as well because those are always more fun than regular books.

Our flight is in the evening so I'm hoping he sleeps for a good portion, but you never know. Our toddler doesn't do screen time yet, but I'm willing to budge on this to get him through a long flight, so I'm going to make sure to bring some earphones that can be worn comfortably. He enjoys music anyways so earphones are great so he can listen while others are sleeping/resting.

I'd love to hear advice from anyone who's done this before with a toddler. What worked for you and what didn't?
  • Make friends with the flight attendants. They let us stand back in the galley area with our son and provided wine throughout the flight.

A lot of snakes and drinks. If they use a binkie then have it at take off and landing if not have them drink something to help ears pop.

Brand new toys they have never seen are a great distraction as well.

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: a mango

Upcoming appointments: 6/8 for anatomy scan. The wait for this appointment has felt looong

How are you feeling: my belly just feels generally uncomfortable. Rapid expansion maybe? It is annoying.

Rants / Raves: Rave: Loving how snuggly my 16-month-old has been lately. Trying to soak in all the one-on-one time with her while I can!
Rant: why doesn't insurance cover doulas??!! 😡😡

    Questions: natm

GTKY: Have you ever walked out of a movie theatre in the middle of a movie? I don't think so... 🤔🤔🤔

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: I'm sorry I forget and don't feel like checking this time. Smaller than a mango bc I peeked at 19 lol.

Upcoming appointments: Tuesday 6/6 Anatomy Scan

How are you feeling: starting to feel uncomfortable sometimes. Stairs aren't always easy. Energy is back though so that's good!

Rants / Raves: I realized we'll have to repaint the baby's room. The room has been a home office for almost 10 years and we have to take cabinets down. No idea what the walls will look like when everything is unscrewed and pulled down. Right now the walls are a medium shade of blue. I don't know if we'll have to prime them. We are already have so many projects to shift rooms in the house, so not looking forward to it.

Questions: I was originally thinking about asking for advice for having 2 little ones, but someone else already asked. My son will be 3 when the baby is born.

GTKY: Have you ever walked out of a movie theatre in the middle of a movie? Nope. I fell asleep watching the second (or 3rd?) Lord of the Rings though... tbf it was also New Years Day and I hadn't slept much the night before... I also fell asleep watching Shrek 3 at a drive in.
