Trying to Get Pregnant

Trying to get pregnant at 40

Hello!
I am very new to everything pregnancy-related as have decided a little later than others maybe that I want a baby with my boyfriend. I am 40 and he is 50. He already has a teenage Son and I really want the opportunity to have a baby with him. We have been trying for 7 months now and have now booked in to talk to our gp about fertility testing. I guess I am worried I am too old and have missed my chance. Any tips on what to do/what not.to do when trying to get pregnant? I am feeling a bit low and would love to hear from other fellow women, maybe in a similar situation.
Thank you!
Frances

  • Hi Frances. Thanks for joining our group. We tend not to do one-off posts here, so please introduce yourself on the newbie thread and join in on the other threads as you like or feel comfortable. There is an ultimate TTGP guide pinned at the top of the board which has lots of useful info too.

I am also trying for a baby at 40. My RE said that a woman at 40 has a 5% chance of conception each month (compared to 20% each month in younger women), and that 45% of 40 year old women will conceive within 1 year. As long as you are ovulating regularly there is still a chance. I hope it can happen for you! 🤞🏼
