Upcoming appointments: another ultrasound and my second GD test in 3 weeks

How are you feeling: Pretty good. I've been making an effort to get out for long walks lately since the weather is nice

Rants / Raves: So on top of the low lying placenta and potential for GD, I'm now also worried about heart problems. At my midwife appointment last week, she listened to the heart beat and it was slow. As in, she thought it was my heart beat at first. It lasted for about 40 seconds (from the time she started listening) and then sped up to normal speed. She sent me for Level 2 ultrasound on Friday and they didn't find any structural issues, but did see a couple of slow downs. So they now want me to get ultrasounds at 4 week intervals to see if it keeps happening and I may get referred to a specialist if it does.

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? New Years Day. Christmas is so busy, with my parents split and my in laws out of town, that New Years has always been our take it easy holiday, with pajamas and poutine and movies.

Upcoming appointments: Tomorrow I have an appointment with a health educator at my OB’s office. They are planning to put me on insulin. 

How are you feeling: In pain. I don’t remember being in pain this early with my first, my whole body is sore and I’m struggling to get comfortable. 

Rants / Raves: Forever raving about food over here. PB and J with milk is a big hit lately, hard boiled eggs with toast, strawberries, or as my son calls them “brobberies”, have been so good lately.

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? My favorite holiday is Halloween because I love everything fall and spooky. I’m excited to have an October baby!

How are you feeling: I have COVID so not great, but not as bad as the last time I had it

Rants / Raves: I went for the anatomy scan yesterday and the doctor said everything was good, so that other doctor in my husband's hometown was mistaken about the amniotic fluid (he wasn't a specialist/obgyn) I'm so relieved baby seems to be doing just fine! 

My husband and little one had COVID all last week staggered off. I kept away once they tested positive so i could still go to my appointment but tested positive this morning. Last week was so long because of the sickness and Im just getting ready for another long week since I'm the one sick this week 😢

Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Easter. Growing up I loved Easter morning, going to church and getting new Easter dresses, family gatherings with delicious food made by my grandmother, and just spending time celebrating.

Upcoming appointments: June 6 anatomy scan

How are you feeling: not sleeping well. Legs and hips feel sore after sitting or lying down too long. Last pregnancy I had sciatic nerve pain, so I'm kinda hoping that's not what this is. 

Rants / Raves: My midwife appointment yesterday went well. Just a basic check-in, but was able to hear the heartbeat. That was a relief, it was so weird feeling fine after so much nausea in the first trimester. I'm starting to get better with focusing at work, finding my groove again. I have adhd, so this has been a struggle. 

Questions: Anyone thinking about names yet? I've been thinking about some, but haven't brought it up with MH yet...

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Fourth of July. I love fireworks and cookouts! Also, locally, we have pretty some pretty big celebrations. One town starts a concert series in June.

We've started thinking about names. We already had a girl name from our first pregnancy but I wanted a backup in case baby is born and it doesn't feel like she fits our first name. If baby is a boy we came up with a name, but I don't love it, so still thinking of boy names. It's challenging for us because we live in Asia so we need to choose a name that can be pronounced here as well as in English. It's a little sad for me because some names on my list started with J (James, Joanna etc) but that sounds is nearly impossible to pronounce for speakers of my husband's native language.
For our first we went for a family name and have him a cute easy to pronounce nickname that had nothing to do with his given name.

@sawasap oh geez, that sounds stressful. It seems nerve-wracking and also relieving to hear that they will be checking on it a lot. I hope you hear some good news soon!

@linh18 yay! Good news about the amniotic fluid! I hope your COVID recovery is quick!

@lindz42 We have already decided on a name. We decided really early on for our first also. Since we are having a girl again, we just went back to the same list from last time. We chose something that represents our shared cultural heritage.

Upcoming appointments: June 8th for anatomy scan. I am also interviewing doulas this week!!! 

How are you feeling: still gagging a lot and some round ligament pain and leg cramping. Time to get some magnesium lotion!

Rants / Raves: anybody get annoyed with the constant reminder about being "advanced maternal age"? Especially when everything seems to be progressing really well. It's like, are you TRYINGA to make me anxious? That seems the opposite of helpful!

Questions: any suggestions for questions to ask a doula in a interview?

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? This might sound terrible... but I like all the holidays that don't come with expectations to spend them with extended family. It is so exhausting making the rounds to see the in-laws, and then my parents (who are divorced so that makes it even more complicated!). I like those BBQ holidays where you just eat lots of food outside with friends 😋 😊

@lindz42 We've started talking about names. I hate MH's favourite and he hates mine so we're working through our list to try and find something we can agree on.

@alpacamama2 I completely agree with you on the holidays! The family tour is such a slog, and so much worse with young children.

@alpacamama2 good luck with your doula interviews! I don’t have any suggestions for questions other than maybe what their practice is during a birth and how they help advocate.

We have had a name picked out for awhile. I sometimes question if we picked too soon but I do really like what we picked. What name ideas are you thinking of? 

@AmMcc12 They did decide to put me on it but we have to jump through hoops with insurance, so I guess it’ll be a bit still! Thanks for asking!

@alpacamama2 I feel the same way about family and holidays! With Memorial Day weekend, we had nothing planned and it felt good. Then my husband suggested grilled burgers Monday. Sure! Then he suggested inviting our parents. Well... it's super last minute and the only people would surely come would be HIS parents. So I guess I'm not getting burgers...

@mamahaley_2 Right now I have 3 names in mind, but I haven't shared them with my husband yet. I'm thinking I will bring it up after our anatomy scan... I like Rosalyn, Lorena, and Leah. I have no idea yet what my husband will think and I'm trying not to pick a favorite because last time he didn't like my favorite lol.
