Surgery while pregnant advice

Hey I’m 30 weeks pregnant and a week ago I fell at work and broke my ankle, I got a cast on at minute but they have mentioned about thinking of having operation to fix it, I’m unsure of risks to the baby so going to ask for advice from midwife and maternity unit, he also a IVF baby so I’m overprotective but has anyone had surgery while pregnant around this many weeks??

Hi! I broke my foot when I was 26 weeks pregnant w my first. The urgent care who took xrays say I needed surgery- when I went to an orthopedic he said if I stayed off it it would likely heal without surgery.. I kept it immobilized until I gave birth and never ended up needing surgery. Maybe try seeing a specialist first to get all your options or they may wait until after you give birth (which would have been my option). Goodluck

Hi! I'm lurking from the July 2023 moms, but wanted to offer some encouragement. I am just about 30weeks now and had open abdominal surgery at 22 weeks for an ovarian tumor discovered during my anatomy scan. Baby girl came through the surgery great and is still growing right on track. Even having abdominal surgery, my OB has assured me that I should expect to have a "normal" pregnancy and delivery.  I hope your ankle is healing well!
