3rd Trimester

The big question

I'm not sure what we will decide with the vaccines with baby. What have you done and not done? Have you got the Covid shot and if so did you while pregnant? My doctor is really pushing it. He is talking about not seeing me if I refuse it. Which seems wrong.

I got the flu shot and TDAP and COVID vaccines while pregnant. My husband did as well. We also required visitors after he was born to be up to date on vaccines.

My baby is 10 weeks old and healthy. No issues from my vaccines.

Ali this, but my baby is 3 months old.

A good resource to learn all the facts about different exposures during pregnancy is the Mother to Baby organization. They have all the research and can provide you with evidence-based information to make your decisions. They even have people who will talk you through if the covid vaccine is right for you given your own history and risks. Here's their covid page: https://mothertobaby.org/affiliates/mothertobaby-california/covid-19-vaccine-in-pregnancy-information/
  • it’s completely up to you & what you feel comfortable with. if you feel pressure from your doctor just switch .. doctor sounds like a bully.
  • I have continued to see him and he has brought it up 1 more time. I just mentioned the board and he hasn't bothered me since. I find the pushing of medicines and vaccines when pregnant odd. Considering what you can and cannot ingest while pregnant is so specific. Or the judgement you receive for questioning something that is considered standard procedure. I do not claim to know more than anyone I just feel it's unnecessary at this time. I don't feel if someone chose differently they are any more or less correct in their decision.
It's such a strange time. Thank you for your responses.  🙏
  • For what it’s worth, if you aren’t vaccinated at all, he is pushing it because it’s a very good idea to protect you against complications should you get Covid while pregnant and also to give baby some immunity. Pregnant women are a high risk category. Hundreds of thousands have been vaccinated while pregnant and no widespread complications have been reported.

I had Covid third tri after being vaccinated, fully boosted, had Covid once before, and was SICK. I required a short stay for IV fluids and was laid out for days. I took antivirals. All ended well but I shudder to think about how things could have gone if I wasn’t already protected and didn’t get a boost from the antivirals.

Your doc probably didn’t verbalize it the best, I’m sure. But likely has your best interests at heart. These are hard decisions and pregnancy makes it so tough to weigh it all. Good luck.
