What age is best to start positive affirmations with toddler?

I say the younger the better, but my husband says they should understand the meaning behind what they are saying, and starting too young doesn't make sense. Do you do affirmations with your kids, if so what age did you start?

My girl is 2yrs and 6 mo old and I tell her positive affirmations since she was very little. Like she's so beautiful, shes smart (shes still doesnt know what this means but i still say it), etc and some of them she tell them to me too haha
I say do it, it creates a good slef esteem in them.
