Exercise Motivation đŸ˜©

I've never been so tired in my life. Anyone else?

But, we should be getting 30 minutes of exercise each day? Seems easy....but the struggle is real! What are some of your best motivators? Or for anyone feeling the struggle- vent away!

Re: Exercise Motivation đŸ˜©

  • Ugh. I really resonate with this; it’s awful. I am fairly active (barre, Peloton, walking), but these last few weeks have really thrown me off course. I’m trying to give myself some grace these next few weeks and promising myself to get back to my regular workouts once my energy returns a bit. My biggest motivator is remembering how strong i want to feel during labor and those early postpartum days. I was very active during my first pregnancy, but now pregnancy + a toddler means things haven't been as easy! On my hard days I just try to think of what my future self would be wanting me to do now.

  • @jemcd_2 Grace and acceptance during low energy days/weeks is huge 🙏 Certainly isn't helping any to beat myself up for not getting those workouts in. Listen to your body, right? Some days it says taking care of your toddler is more than enough!
But, you're spot on with those motivators. Eventually sneaking in a quick walk becomes a barre class and so on- that much stronger.
    Thanks for sharing!
  • My Apple Watch keeps sending me alerts that my exercise minutes have dropped the last few weeks đŸ«€ I just don’t have the energy. I used to workout while my toddler napped but now I’ve barely been making it to naptime and need to nap too. Some days I find time later in the day but it’s been rough. I hope this is just a phase and I can get back to normal once energy returns

Got ready to go for a walk yesterday and ended up falling asleep on the couch in my workout clothes instead
  • @ftbostonm2023 I keep telling myself I need to be more active. So far, the pep talks haven’t been too successful lol. I do walk the dog a few times a day, and I make sure we take a long walk first thing in the morning because I seem to have the most energy then. Now that it’s nicer outside and stays light longer, we take a family walk after dinner, and then we play with the boys outside in the yard until it’s time to start the bedtime routine for all of them. It does help that I have the boys and the dog on a schedule, so the dog comes and finds me for walks during the day, and the boys are excited to go for their walk at night.
  • @makingbacon sounds like you're getting some good steps in though! If you don't already wear some kind of fitness, Apple, or Fitbit watch, you definitely should. You're likely getting more exercise than you're giving yourself credit for....and watching that step count increase with each walk and playtime could be super motivating- at least a bit reassuring anyway. You're killing it!
  • What's exercise? jk. I'm not moving my body hardly at all but I know its hard at work right now so I'm cutting myself a little bit of slack. There will hopefully be a time soon where we all start feeling better and can move our bodies more :)
  • Is there anyone in your area to workout with? Or even to walk around the neighborhood with? My gym buddy is my motivation. I’m still going 6 days a week but I know I wouldn’t be going half as much if it wasn’t for her dragging me out of the house.
  • I'm trying to be happy with a 30-minute walk each day. I was so tired at the beginning of the week and started a new job (so I thought that was why I was so tired. Turns out its a baby XD) so I just counted this week and next week out due to a vacation. I'm really hoping to get back into light weight lifting when I get back though. My issue is, I do most of my workouts on my back because I have dysautonomia, so I'm really not sure what to do now. I am also at a loss about getting decent cardio in because my resting heart rate has gone up 10bpm in a week... ugh
  • I am really struggling to stay active as well. I have never been so fatigued/exhausted in my life. I have been giving myself a hard time, but also trying to remind myself if I walk or do Pilates at least twice a week, that’s still something! I’ve talked to my friends who have been pregnant and they keep stressing the importance of rest and sleeping now, because once baby comes there will a lot less of that lol. Looking forward to second tri and hopefully gaining energy back!
  • @ftbostonm2023 try subbing in 20-30 min walk as the exercise; I try to cut myself some slack since as others said your body is doing a lot in its baseline state.
  • Also really love “good for the swole” workouts and app.
