Multiple Early Miscarriages

I have my first visit with the fertility specialist after my third early miscarriage. I had a healthy full term pregnancy and delivery almost three years ago. I know the reason can be different for every woman and their body, but what have been the experiences of other women going through the process of seeing a specialist with similar issues? I don’t know what to expect and I am nervous.

Hey there- wanted to reply since I had a similar issue to yours. I had a few early miscarriages and am now seeing a RE. He did a bu ch fo bloodwork includint 1 for thrombosis. I learned I have a genetic condition called PAI 4g4g. My body develops small blood clots around Mty uterus which causes early loss. Because of that, I am now on metaformin to combat it. I just completed a round or IVF and am doing a FET in May- hoping the meds work and gwt me a BFP! I wish you luck in your journey and make sure you ask your Dr to do all the testing to get to the bottom of your issue. Not sure if you'll have the same outcome as me, but I wanted to share with you.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your early miscarriages and the anxiety you are feeling about your upcoming visit with the fertility specialist. It's completely normal to feel nervous about the unknown, but you are taking a proactive step to seek help, which is commendable.

Every woman's journey with infertility is unique, and while there may be similarities in experiences, no two cases are exactly the same. However, here are some general things that you can expect during your first visit with a fertility specialist:

    • Medical history
    • Physical exam
    • Testing: Your doctor may order a variety of tests, including blood work, imaging, and possibly a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) or a laparoscopy.
    • Treatment options: Depending on the results of your tests, your doctor may recommend a variety of treatment options, including medication, surgery, or assisted reproductive technologies (ART) like intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF).

It's important to remember that the process of infertility treatment can be a journey with many ups and downs. It's also important to find a specialist that you feel comfortable with and trust. Don't hesitate to ask questions and advocate for yourself throughout the process.

I wish you the best of luck with your upcoming appointment and your fertility journey.
