Hi! I am 11 weeks with mine and my husband's first and we are so excited!
Last week we did the cell free DNA blood test (checks for chromosomal abnormalities like downs but can also tell the gender) and I got our results back today. We are thrilled that everything came out normal and that we are having a BOY!
To be honest, the news that it was a boy SHOCKED me. Don't get me wrong—I know that there is a 50/50 chance either way, but for some reason this whole time I've just been assuming I was pregnant with a girl (based on nothing but apparently misguided intuition haha). I'm really excited about having a boy but also I have literally zero point of reference for raising a little boy. Lots to learn!
Anyone else find out the gender yet? And if so were you surprised?
(*PS* while the gender feels like a fun new fact about my little one, I am also acutely aware and supportive of the fact that eventually they will make their own decisions about their gender expression.)
Re: Learning the gender
I thought my first was a boy and I always saw myself as a boy Mom. But I got a girl and I couldn't be happier. I have really loved having a daughter so far (check back when she is a teen and i might be singing a different tune 😂). Now with this pregnancy, I think I'm having a girl (and I want another girl! So maybe wishful thinking). My husband wants a boy. Either way, I am excited to find out. Just a few more week!
