GTKY: Do you celebrate any Spring holidays (Easter, Purim, Passover, St Patrick's Day, Holi, Ramadan, etc.)?

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: 🤷‍♀️

    Upcoming appointments: Nothing until 28w

How are you feeling: SPD pain is kicking my butt. I'm dismayed that it's this bad already, in my first pregnancy it flared up much later. I can't even roll over in bed without pain 😞

Rants / Raves: I am nesting by doing anything BUT baby prep lol! Repotted my plants, framed a bunch of photos, putting in tomatos, etc.

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you celebrate any Spring holidays (Easter, Purim, Passover, St Patrick's Day, Holi, Ramadan, etc.)? We're a blended fam, so we celebrate Easter, Purim, and Passover!

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of:
Baby's foot is the size of a sugar packet!! That's insane

    Upcoming appointments:
My follow-up/final ultrasound is next Thursday, midwife appointment the Thursday after!

    How are you feeling:
I have been having some intense chest and upper back pain in certain sitting positions. I think baby's head pushing into my rib cage (since she's straight up breech still) is causing me a lot of sharp pain if I sit in a way that squishes her at all. Otherwise, I just feel like the 2nd trimester energy has left the building at this point. So tired. I'm been going to bed at the same time as the kids like 50% of the time recently and waking up in the morning 10-11 hours later still exhausted.

    Rants / Raves:
We are juggling a *ton* of things right now, but I'm super looking forward to our anniversary dinner at a fancy restaurant on Thursday this week 🩶 we've been married 4 years and it feels really crazy. The cliche of, it feels like we've been in love all our lives and at the same time not a moment has passed since we kissed and said I do. And then this weekend we're going to dinner again with a friend and her fiance to schmooze them before asking them to be our kids godparents lol.

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you celebrate any Spring holidays (Easter, Purim, Passover, St Patrick's Day, Holi, Ramadan, etc.)?
We're not religious, but I love parties and any excuse to celebrate anything. So we get together with family for Easter and do baskets and egg hunts. A funny little story about St. Pats is that our wedding anniversary is March 16, and we honeymooned in Chicago. We stayed the night in a hotel in town then drove the 9 hours to Chi town on the 17th. We get there, we're walking around downtown as it's getting dark and pass the river. I was like "what in the genuine f*ck is wrong with this river??" because it was a nasty color. I thought Chicago just had the filthiest water you could imagine. We pass it again in daylight the next day, and realize it's green. For St. Patrick's Day. In Chicago of all places. I felt so silly when my husband pointed it all out to me 😂

@thescarletmom I laughed out loud at the river story because that %100 would be me 😂

@peyts228 omg nooo spd is hell on earth, I'm so sorry, I hope you can find something to help relieve the pain.

Eta I am waiting to hear back about which MFM office or alternative imaging I can do because the birth center refers typically to an office 1.5 hours away from me, but I got my first appointment set up for next week and just my luck it's the glucose screen 🤦🏻‍♀️ I hate it, I wish I could opt out. But alas. I thought I would be reassured that I won't be automatically booted from care if I fail like they did at my last center but I'm still a nervous wreck.

I don't even remember what wild fact the bump told me today. I'm just waiting to see what new fruit/vegetable he will be compared to tomorrow as I hit 27 weeks

    Upcoming appointments:
Vbac "consult" zoom call on the 20th.

    How are you feeling:
Heartburn at night time leaves me in so much discomfort, I don't even know what to do about it. I've has a bit of anxiety lately I'm trying to work through. Feeling giant and bloated and moving around like a beached whale and it's only getting worse.

    Rants / Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you celebrate any Spring holidays (Easter, Purim, Passover, St Patrick's Day, Holi, Ramadan, etc.)?
I am like @thescarletmom and look for any excuse to celebrate anything. For st Patrick's day I always make Irish food. When reese was little we made a leprechaun trap. Now there's this paint and dessert place I want to take him to to do a st Patty's day paint and eat dessert night. For Easter my mom always pays these church people to come through and "egg " our house. They leave Easter eggs all over the front lawn the night before Easter and reese wakes up to candy filled eggs all over. Then of course Easter baskets.
  • @peyts228 SPD is awful, I'm so sorry! The rolling over in bed gets me a lot too. My SPD was pretty bad a few months ago, but has miraculously faded quite a bit and I'm not doing anything differently? DS1 has a friend at school who's family celebrates multiple religions and their holidays and he came home pretty mad last year that we couldn't celebrate Hannukah AND Christmas like his friend 😂

@kalesix3 I can laugh about it now because I was sooo sleep deprived (I planned our little wedding in three months and was awake from 4am-midnight the day of preparing, and we didnt sleep in much the day after so we could get on the road) but in the moment I was like wow, how did you not realize you had planned your wedding for the day before St. Patrick's Day? Must be the Irish heritage in me pulling me that direction haha.
Best of luck with your glucose screen!! That's so nervewracking. Thankfully my midwife doesn't boot anyone from her practice automatically upon failing the GD screen, but she will if you can't get it under control with diet quickly. I have always opted out since I'm pretty aware of my glucose levels due to hypoglycemia and have a monitor at home I can use.

@hitcj4687 man I love any reason to do silly little themed crafts or those jelly window stickers and fun foods or outings. I will celebrate anything! Catch me doing waaay too much putting together baskets for my kids for Valentines, Easter, 4th of July, Back to School, Halloween... I think everybody has that thing they do as a parent that's completely unnecessary but they do for the sake of themselves and bringing a little magic into their kids lives? That's me and seasonal/holiday celebrations.
  • @thescarletmom I should show you the birthday parties I put on for reese.... im insane lmfao. I'm glad I'm not alone

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise:💙

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: zucchini allegedly.

Upcoming appointments: beginning of April. We are adventuring all month, my doc was not happy I couldn't reschedule. But meh. Code it as you may 🙄

How are you feeling: really good. I mean huge and tired but tis' that time. We are doing a huge trip to enjoy our fam as is before we add in more chaos. 😀

Rants / Raves: my dog has been gone a year and a month and I really miss him today. He loved to travel. My shotgun rider. He could not for the life of him sleep in a moving vehicle a slow down or blinker goes on and he was up to investigate. Going to one of his favorite places on the way.

GTKY: Do you celebrate any Spring holidays (Easter, Purim, Passover, St Patrick's Day, Holi, Ramadan, etc.)? Easter for sure. Baskets, egg decorating, egg hunts, the whole shebang. We teach of what it is and it's correlations to our Nordic heritage as well.
I cook corn beef and cabbage and hash, as well as Colcannon for St. Patty's Day.  When I'm not pregnant we drink Irish style as well. We wear green and tell of St. Patrick and why it is celebrated.
  • Everytime one of the girls in my friend group gets this far we send pregnant orangatan pictures to eachother in solidarity. @hitcj4687 this is how I feel for sure! Haha hang in there ladies. Nearly there.

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: her hand is the size of a starburst

Upcoming appointments: yesterday was was glucose screening and I passed with flying colors! But the CBC showed I’m slightly anemic, which explains my tiredness. Next week I have both an ob and ultrasound

How are you feeling: pretty good overall! The Chiro has been wonderful to address my hip pain so I’m sleeping better which always helps

Rants / Raves: my hormones are out of control! I’m crying at everything, angry at my partner over small stuff, just out of sorts lol

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you celebrate any Spring holidays (Easter, Purim, Passover, St Patrick's Day, Holi, Ramadan, etc.)? Not especially, but my baby shower is shaping up to be quite the celebration!!
  • @monkey_mcfee I'm cracking up at 27+some because I had the same thought trying to remember my w+d count haha. But yay for chiro work helping! I know your hip pain was giving you a run for your money. I have been so quick to cry recently, it's been insane! Thankfully not getting mad at my family members, more just teary or easily overwhelmed. I'm excited for you and your baby shower!!

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: today her footprint is the size of a AAA battery? Lol

Upcoming appointments: glucose screen and check up at the end of the month

How are you feeling: a lot of the sickness symptoms are gone, hallelujah!! I’ve been having horrible sciatic pain this week. All down my legs… making it hard to sleep. There’s always something, right?? Haha

Rants / Raves: we finally have a name!! Opal Elaine. Elaine is my grandmas name, she passed when I was young and I’ve always wanted to incorporate it. We both really love it. We’ve never had a name picked this early!!

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you celebrate any Spring holidays (Easter, Purim, Passover, St Patrick's Day, Holi, Ramadan, etc.)? Mostly just Easter. My family is still very religious, even though I am not. So they will likely attend church and do a few other things. I’ll likely plan baskets and an egg hunt for the girls. I’m actually a little stressed about this holiday, it’s a big one in the religion I was raised in so I’m a bit worried about how DH and I are going to navigate that in our fairly new mixed faith dynamic.
  • @bridgettetheboxer i love Opal! That is a name on our girl list. A family name and just perfect. I don't know anyone with that name currently in my area. And I adore how you incorporating your Grandma's name Elaine. Beautifully done. Congrats on having that hurdle figured out. A relief for sure!
  • @bridgettetheboxer omg Opal Elaine is the sweetest! I love it 😍 I'm so glad the name debacle is behind you!
  • I really admire you who are out here celebrating all these holidays and planning elaborate parties, I wish I was any good at those kinds of things, holidays stress me tf out and I'm no good at my son's birthday parties, I try to be but it just doesn't come naturally, it's an ordeal for me to figure out what to put in an Easter basket every year. Feel free to send me some vibes because I'd love to be great at these things!

@thescarletmom I'd love to just skip it, I hate doing the test and I have irrational anxiety that whatever result I get will be wrong 🤦🏻‍♀️
  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days:

    How are you feeling:

feeling good but starving all the time!

    Rants / Raves:

I can’t stop eating. And I feel like when I try to do anything my belly is in the way. I keep bumping it on the sink when doing dishes so then my shirt is all wet.
    Questions:

GTKY: Do you celebrate any Spring holidays (Easter, Purim, Passover, St Patrick's Day, Holi, Ramadan, etc.)?

we do Easter baskets and go to church for Easter. But we also celebrate Tigers opening day with a hot dog, nachos and popcorn lunch.  I love sports, and the Tigers are definitely my favorite team.
  • @mommasay04 same about belly getting in the way! Haha but it has been useful too..the other day I used my belly to close the pantry door because my hands were full 😂

Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: 28 weeks!!

    FTM/STM/STM+: third time

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: first time boy

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: an eggplant

Upcoming appointments: just a regular prenatal in 2 weeks. My midwife is going to start doing home visits, so yay!

How are you feeling: Ok. Really struggling with insomnia, so pretty much exhausted. And just generally feeling huge and uncomfortable.

Rants / Raves: Passed my glucose test, but like @monkey_mcfee my blood test showed I'm still anemic....even with taking an iron supplement every morning. I'm adding in a chloroxygen supplement and trying to incorporate more vitamin C into my breakfast.

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you celebrate any Spring holidays (Easter, Purim, Passover, St Patrick's Day, Holi, Ramadan, etc.)?

Not so much St. Patrick's, but we do more for Easter - basket's and egg hunt. My mom always cut bunny footprints out of white paper and trailed them around the house/outside leading to our baskets. I'm excited to start those fun memories with my girls
  • @sunny_native14 how does your midwife do home visits in the last trimester? Is it just all your prenatal appts are at home or do you still go into the office for some? If I recall correctly from DS1+2, my midwife only does one home visit at either 34 or 36 weeks, just so she can be familiar with the house and location when she shows up for the birth and can help make sure your birth kit has everything you need in it.
  •  @thescarletmom my midwife just so happens to live like 3 minutes away from me, so starting home visits this early is more just for convenience and because she really wants to see my girls..but I'll go back into the birth center for whatever the next appointment is that they do blood work. The birth center I work with is really family centered and loves to incorporate siblings/family members into appointments and the whole process.

At my last appointment she gave me my 'home birth checklist' to start preparing and my mind is blown that we're getting that close 🤯

@sunny_native14 aw, that's nice! And probably very comforting knowing she's so close by when it's go-time. Home visits always stressed me out because I feel like I'm "hosting" so just the one has always worked for me, but I can imagine they can also be so convenient! I'm glad you love your birth center so much 🩶 yesterday morning I got the email with the birth kit list and was absolutely in shock for a minute too 🫠 I told DH two days ago that we're exactly 3 months away from my due date and he just blinked back at me with a sort of crazy look in his eyes haha. I feel like I've been pregnant for like 6 minutes it's all gone by so fast!
  • Omg- last night I had a dream we all met in person at some type of convention center? Wtf. We were all introducing ourselves and hugging.  It was so interesting seeing everyone in person....it was actually really sweet.
  • @sunny_native14 my oldest's bmb has done meet ups, but I've always been too far away from the parts of the country where people are most concentrated! It would be so wonderful and special someday to meet any/all of the people here and their babies.
  • @francesgs yea it’s useful too sometimes. I do rest my cup on my belly sometimes. But I hate wet clothes so when I get my shirt wet it’s super annoying lol.
  • @sunny_native14 I love dreams like that! My son's BMB hasn't met up but I would love it if we did and likewise here someday 🤍
  • I didn't know homebirth midwives didn't always do home visits, even my 24 hour postpartum visit with my birth center midwives was a home visit, it's so interesting how things are done differently everywhere!
