1st Trimester

Feeling Movement Early!

Hi Mama’s & Mommy’s to be! Hoping you all are doing well and the little ones too!

Guys I am convinced I am having twins! My first appointment with my OB is Friday! 3/3/2023!
I am currently 11 weeks and two days and I promise you I am feeling some serious movement in my belly and I think my cat does too. Tehe. My belly is definitely large and solid at this state also. But get these flutters, tugs and tingly feelings in different parts of my belly. Now of course my first thought was, ok your body is changing blah blah blah but dude!! They are getting more frequent and when I did a little research it states early movement can means twins! So for my mama’s with multiples!! How did you know!? When did you feel movement? What exactly did you feel?? How far along were you!? Was your tummy solid, like really solid! Did you have dreams about multiples! I’m freaking out but also extremely emotional and excited! I can’t wait to find out!! Please share!!

baby is still within the pelvis and you are not showing,.  If anything, it's bloat and gas that you feel  moving, not a baby. Movement normally is not felt until approx 16 weeks, not 11.

  • I have had nothing but singletons and I have felt earlier movement than 16 weeks. If I happen to have a posterior placenta I’m feeling movement all the time by 16 weeks. I have an anterior placenta this time and I felt movement by 12 weeks that was very much early flutters and not gas. I am also on my 9th pregnancy (7th getting to 14.5 weeks) so I am more aware of what early movement feels like vs gas. Making a generalized statement that a woman can’t feel movement until 16 weeks is a statement that would be more fitting if you were just talking about FTM. It is very common for STM+ to feel earlier movement.

Again, all of my pregnancies have been singletons and I have felt early movement. Regularly if I have a posterior placenta. So, early movement isn’t necessarily a sign of twins. women with smaller torsos show sooner. There are lots of reasons you could appear to be showing. I’m 14.5 weeks and I look like I’m 20 weeks. I started bloating and “showing” sooner with my second pregnancy. Your muscles just can’t hold it in like it did with the first pregnancy.
  • Awww you're lucky to be feeling that so early! That happened to me in my second pregnancy due to placement etc. Felt exactly like a little tadpole at 11 weeks. So weird and great. He's now my most active child (7 yrs).
