Registry Items - Clothing Help!

Question for current moms with varied experience— between NB, 0-3 and 3-6 month sizes, how much clothing do I need for each?

Wondering how many items per size to add on my registry.. Also, what types of clothing worked best for you between the different stages (ex. gowns, bodysuits & pants, zippered onesies, etc.)

Re: Registry Items - Clothing Help!

  • My baby will be 8 weeks on Monday. We have almost exclusively had him in footie PJs ("sleep and play" outfits). I think he's worn pants and a long sleeve onesie 3-4 times, all for pictures. Otherwise it's all about comfort and ease for us. He was 9lbs when born, so he skipped newborn sizes entirely and went straight to 0-3 months; he's starting to bust out of those now, so we'll be in 3-6 months before he's 2 months old. He's also starting to roll to his side, so we've had to stop swaddling. Halo sleep swaddles have helped with that- he can still use it as a sleep sack with arms out, while our other swaddles are already useless. So here's what we've used so far:
-7-10 sleep and play outfits (Cotton not fleece even though our house is cold, and two-way or inverted zippers rather than regular zippers)
-4 sleep sacks with swaddle option
    - three cute outfits for pictures and holidays
    - a couple pairs of socks to go with the outfits

That's about it. We have hats and mittens that we never really used, a fleece bunting/snowsuit that we don't really use (If it's really cold, we don't really spend much time outside, otherwise he's fine in his sleep and play in a baby carrier). All that said, we didn't register for any clothing, but it really is a popular gift people will get you anyway. We had 2 drawers full of newborn and 0-3 month clothes, either bought as gifts or hand me downs, even when I didn't think I had anyone who would give me hand me downs! A woman a church that I barely know and my sister in law (whose son is now 6!) had things to pass on without me even asking. The only things I've bought clothing-wise are sleep and plays with two-way zippers (We had enough, but the ones with the regular zippers are so inconvenient at night so we went ahead and bought some with two way zippers) and sleep sacks. I'm not sure if I'd recommend registering for any clothes, just fill in what you need after people get you whatever they randomly pick
