7ish weeks and just got back from an ultrasound where we discovered that there were two babies instead of the one we have been seeing since 5 weeks. One baby is continuing to grow and has a heartbeat, the other is not progressing. The baby that is growing has a yolk sac that is measuring at 6-6.5 which is evidently larger than it should be.
The Dr told us this could be an indication of genetic abnormalities or increased risk for miscarriage. The fact that embryos came from the same egg and one did not make it could also be an indication of there being an issue. We go back in a week to find out more but has anyone had any experience with a yolk sac measuring too large?
Any stories or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
