Two year old head banging and slapping self

Hello I have a two year old son who turned two in December. Lately when he doesn’t get his way, gets upset, or does something wrong he will slap himself in the face or bang his head on the floor or against whatever surface his head is at. I am getting concerned with this behavior afraid he will hurt himself. Is anyone else having similar experiences with their child and what have you done. TIA

I hold his body and say I'm going to hold your body to keep you safe then I validate what happened that was frustrating and lately ill relate to something I've done and that brings him to awareness.
