2nd Trimester

Space!!!

Maybe a bit off topic but pertains to this pregnancy with us.
We have multiple properties and are always renovating one or developing the land on another for someone to come and build on. Because of this we are currently in a smaller home we bought a week before we found out about our 1st son. We sold our farm house last year. So we are back in our 100+ year old home that I love but is just a bit too small. We plan to rent out eventually, but are loving the flexibility of no mortgage on the one we live at. Hopefully in 2 years we will have the land and a 7bdrm home that we desperately will need. So for the time being we will live in this home. It's a 3 bedroom (all very small) and there's a weird flex room that enters into each bedroom and a bathroom. We have our boys double bunking but they all end up in the same room every night. But it's nice to have a space to separate them as they are wild farm boys. Lord help me.
Anybody know of a good murphy bed or equivalent for the flex room? I want a room my husband can go to so he doesn't have to deal with NB at night on those rough nights. He never gets up with them as I breastfeed and why bother him. I'd want the same if roles were reversed.
I can always build one, but I'm getting round and when I get about 30 weeks I hate using the saw. Too big, too dangerous! We have soo many projects always going on I don't want to distract from them. My husband is a big guy and a pull out couch is just not comfortable enough.

Probably a big reach, but any suggestions or companies welcome. I found one but Wow $$$$ I'm so cheap I can't. I just can't.

  • Depending on the set up in your boys’ room you could get a trundle bed that YH can pull out.

  • @meggyme that is a great idea. I worry he'll be too big for it or that the boys will be little stinkers at night and want to snuggle. Who can say no to snuggles? I'll have to have him try a bunk bed trundle in the stores. He has no idea this has been on my mind. I just try to make a new baby as seamless of a transition for all involved and I feel this would be so great for him in this season of work and life. Thanks for the idea!!
I hadn't even considered a new bed set up in one of their rooms. On certain days maybe I can just say it's a brother slumber party and Dad gets your room. I just didn't want to take from them with a new baby entering. So Dad sharing a room may be cool beans for them. Thanks again!

  • Have you considered looking into DIY Murphy bed kits? They often come with pre-cut materials and instructions, making it easier to assemble without the need for extensive sawing. You might also find some affordable options online or in local furniture stores. It's worth exploring to find a solution that fits your budget and needs!
