A bowl of cereal. I don't know who's in charge of these at the bump 😂
Upcoming appointments:
This Thursday is anatomy scan, next Thursday is a regular prenatal appointment. This Wednesday is an (semi) unrelated eye appointment! I say semi because my pregnancies always kill my vision so I'm excited to get glasses that are actually a good prescription for my current sight.
How are you feeling:
I have been incredibly emotional fragile/volatile recently. Anxious for my anatomy scan. But other than the mood swings and bouts of anxiety, I feel really good mentally? I'm sure that doesn't make sense, but those feelings don't dominate my day, they're only a portion of it and so they're not too terrible or debilitating to deal with. Physically, I'm either exhausted or riding a huge burst of energy! Still vomiting, still have a sore back and pelvis, leg cramps, headaches... but at least I have some energy!
Rants / Raves:
I have a pot roast in the crockpot and have already texted my husband to check on it haha 👌🏼 and I'm excited because I've decided to get a heartbeat bear from the ultrasound boutique doing my anatomy scan 🩶 I think it will be really special for the boys to be able to hear and bond with the baby that way, and after every loss we've had to get to this last baby, I need it for myself in a way too.
Small rant is that sweet DS2 has been extra clingy recently and if I'm home, he literally has to be touching me. Either in my lap or climbing on me or being held. He's often this way, but this last month has been extra. I'm sure it has to do with him being able to sense that things are changing, but I am getting reeaaaally touched out with all the extra affection. Back to the stage of not being able to eat a meal without him in my lap and it's just a lot.
Questions:
Anybody else absolutely out of new dinner ideas? Feel kind of in a rut.
GTKY: what's your favorite beverage?
Dr. Pepper girl all the way. But Taco Bell has really good Pepsi, so if I'm at TB I always get that. 😂
@thescarletmom I thought of you yesterday when I saw that baby is the size of a bowl of cereal because... what?! Hahahaha and you're a day behind me so I knew you hadn't seen it yet.
Anatomy scan February 10th
Overall I feel good. I'm back on a regular workout routine and that feels incredible. My diet is hit or miss on whether it's healthy or not. I have a lot of hormones currently and find it hard to keep them in check some days. My sex drive is really high right now! I'm losing hair although according to my apps, I should have luscious beautiful hair but I do not. Heartburn is in full swing. Baby has been moving a lot more frequently. I wish my husband could feel him!
Rants/raves: why can't my husband turn off lights when he leaves a room?
Questions: @thescarletmom do you have dietary restrictions at all? I love a breakfast casserole in the crockpot or breakfast enchiladas. Potato soups. Paninis. Chinese? What about marinating chicken thighs all day and grilling them and serving with rice or potatoes and a vegetable? Taco bowl? Burger bowl? Gyro bowl? Lol p.s. good for you for telling hubby to check on the crockpot. I should have done that 😂
Gtky: I have all kinds of favorite drinks. I really do love water, I love good coffee, black. I love la Croix. When I am not pregnant, I love a good IPA and craft beer in general. I love a good dry red wine. Titos and pineapple for a mixed drink.
Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: a bell pepper
Upcoming appointments: MFM every Friday for cervix measurements. I do t see regular OB or the diabetes nurse again until mid-February
How are you feeling: Anxious. I was feeling pretty good until my last appointment, now I’m over-analyzing every feeling and second-guessing everything I do. Ugh.
Rants / Raves: DS is so sad I can’t pick him up anymore, he keeps wanting to baby to go away. I I worry about the impact this pregnancy/new baby will have on him, he’s already pretty sensitive as it is.
Questions:
GTKY: what's your favorite beverage? I like different teas a lot. I like lemonade but but stopped drinking it much in the last several years because of the sugar. Lemon water is good though.
Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: EDD 6/23; 18w3d
FTM/STM/STM+: STM
Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Girl
Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: According to Ovia, a sugar glider squirrel!
Upcoming appointments: Feb 1 for OB, then following week for anatomy scan.
How are you feeling: Pretty good!
Rants / Raves: Something about this pregnancy has me totally burnt out at work. I love my job, but I am so swamped with parenting, pregnanting, and life that I have no mental reserves left for work stuff.
Questions: @thescarletmom My go-tos when I'm out of dinner ideas are fried rice, bibimbap, or stir fried noodles. All one pan or wok and doable with whatever's in the pantry/fridge.
GTKY: what's your favorite beverage? Normally, a London Fog tea latte, a boba tea, or a coke. But I'm on a GD regimen, alas. I love and collect tea, like, a whole cupboard's worth of tea lol.
@hitcj4687 okay I almost typed out a big long thing in the rave sectiom about how my sex drive is way high right now (and I already have the higher sex drive in our marriage) and for once in our lives DH is at the same place I am and I'm pretty sure we've had sex like 6 times in the last week? Honestly maybe more 👀 its so crazy, we're never like this, not even on our honeymoon! We usually struggle with mismatched libidos so its been fun to have extra fun while we can before baby makes 5 😂
Mmm you reminded me I've been wanting to make homemade beef and broccoli. Thank you for the ideas!! We got a good coupon in the mail for hellofresh (we've used it a lot in the past) so we have a few boxes of that that we'll do and they usually help my kitchen inspiration too!
@pttomato that sounds so hard 🥺 I know DS2 would take it pretty rough if I had to stop picking him up. I'm sure you've thought of/done this, but for example we just finally weaned DS2 from bfing. He was upset when I said no milk, but usually I can help cushion the blow by offering cuddles instead, or he likes his back rubbed, etc. I know that's not really a good replacement if you're not able to sit down and cuddle at that moment he's asking. I wish I could say I had better advice but mostly just some commiseration. In my first tri when I was so sick this pregnancy, DS1 was afraid the baby was killing me and asked me if we could make it go away because he was scared. It is heartbreaking watching a pregnancy affect your other kids.
@pttomato oh that's so sad😢 I've been trying to carry my son less with my pelvis pain getting worse and it's only made him more determined to be carried than ever. I don't even say no I just redirect and distract and he sees right through me. Today he refused the stroller and asked to be carried all the way to the park. 😵💫 It sucks because it's already hard on us when the youngest isn't the baby anymore and we all want to soak up the moments but when you physically can't it's so heartbreaking and of course it's what they want.
@thescarletmom same on the clinginess. For my two year old it manifests into behavior that suggests he's been abandoned and neglected all his life instead of me walking five feet away to get him a snack. I genuinely enjoy this age most of the time but the out of control behavior is not my favorite stage right now. I'm kind of dreading it getting worse, I hope I can add more parenting tools/activities to help combat him acting like I'm not there all day and night at his beck and call. This is exactly why I hate a two year age gap. Deep breaths 💚 a mantra I like to repeat to myself is "just because it's hard doesn't mean it's bad" but some days even I'm not listening to myself.
Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: June 4th (although at this point it might as well be June 3rd since my records aren't updating and nobody is dating me for June 4th anymore. 21w1d
FTM/STM/STM+:
Third time mom
Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Team green 🍏
Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: An eggplant or endive but the bump puts eggplant as later on in pregnancy so like maybe a medium eggplant now and a giant one later? Idk 😅
Upcoming appointments: February 9th for prenatal and 16th for growth scan
How are you feeling:
I think my protein aversion is making me feel like my blood sugar is always low. I don't love how carbs make me feel but I can't keep nearly any type of meat down and vegan protein sources I also seem to have aversions too. My pelvis hurts, I need to do some pelvic floor work, I've just been too overwhelmed and tired. At least I'm staying hydrated!
Rants / Raves:
I scored a really expensive special edition snuggle me cover for $9 instead of the $85 they usually go for. I was very happy. Also I was irresponsible and bought another plant when I'm already stressed about moving the ones I already have. It's a Camille dieffenbachia and my last one died from being shipped in the mail so it was worth it.
Questions:
GTKY: what's your favorite beverage? Herbal tea and strawberry mint smoothies. I used to be a barista and I made a mean decaf chai latte but I haven't had one in a few years now.
Same size as one of our dolls (a 90's style water baby) so DS and DD were pretty excited to have an actual baby-like thing to compare it to
Upcoming appointments:
Not until Feb
How are you feeling:
Not too bad. A little nervous about the small amount of pelvic discomfort and pelvic floor disfunction I've started experiencing being only halfway but I'm hoping chiro next week will help and I plan to do pelvic floor physio postpartum regardless but will start it earlier if things get worse.
Rants / Raves:
I've had an annoying ear issue going on for a few days now where it feels like I need to pop my ears and my hearing was somewhat effected/foggy yesterday and today. Unlikely to be pregnancy related especially because my blood pressure is generally quite low and it's my only symptom (I talked to my midwife too, just to be safe and she said she'd see someone if it becomes painful, worse or persists but it doesn't sound too worrisome to her). It almost seems a bit better today than yesterday so hopefully it's on it's way out, it's just so annoying!
Questions:
GTKY: what's your favorite beverage? Honestly, my go to is water haha. I do occasionally enjoy a sweet, creamy coffee drink (although not since finding out I was pregnant just because I'm so sensitive to caffeine in general if I drink one cup two days in a row, I'll get a migraine on the third day if I don't have a cup and I can't take my migraine rX while pregnant). I really like chocolate or banana vodka mudshakes on occasion too!
How are you feeling: Had my anatomy scan last week & it both made me feel reassured that all is well & also stressed out w/ how much to do now that this feels more for sure happening (knock on wood). Just started telling folks & that feels good but pretty nervous to tell my (male) boss this week so I feel like I’m overcompensating up until then working so much extra. I know I shouldn’t have to do this logically but still feel like I need to sigh.
I’m also feeling pretty sad about the current events & the recent violence in the Asian American community while I tried to celebrate the Lunar New Year. I can’t help thinking about what I’m bringing this baby into which is making me feel a bit down but trying to give myself grace as much as I can this week to feel my feels & not let it get me too down. My dog helps.
Question: A couple mom friends totally freaked me out saying I should already have my baby on daycare waiting lists. Have you all done this already? Crap…
GTKY: what's your favorite beverage? Boba & dreaming about my fruity beers & lattes!
@hitcj4687 - are you me?!? I'm also feeling what you're feeling in terms of hair loss and heartburn. Also sex drive and baby movement. I'm a teacher and so sometimes when I'm sotting and catching up on paperwork I get the flutters and am just like "HELLO is there!" It's kind of fun, but I can't wait for my wife to feel the baby too!
Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: the length of a banana
Upcoming appointments: Today is my 20 week scan!
How are you feeling: Overall I'm ok, although I'm having them check my iron level at this appointment just to be sure my tiredness is normal tired and not anemia tired. I'm back to doing gentle workouts and core strength exercises so yay! But the hair loss and heartburn are still so real!
Rants / Raves: My momma's here visiting this week while my wife is gone to France for a school trip! We live a 12 hour drive from each other, so it's fun to have her here.
Questions:
GTKY: what's your favorite beverage? Lately it's been watered down raspberry lemonade from my school's drink machine. But usually coffee when I'm not pregnant.
@krnadoptee Solidarity- it's been a tough week for me mentally, too. I live in the LA area so it's all too close to home.
Re: daycares- I think it really depends on where you live and what your childcare landscape is like. My daycare does have a waiting list already, but I'm in a major city. It also depends on when you will need care. Infant care is typically harder to secure than toddler care where I live. I know finding childcare can be really overwhelming (at least it was for me with my first), so starting with a straightforward task like listing the options in your area might help.
@monkey_mcfee I'm sorry! I feel for you! I want the beautiful long, full hair others have. I've always had thin hair but lost a lot of it when I had thyroid cancer and it never filled in properly after that. Now being pregnant, its really bad again! I don't color treat it more than once a year. I don't use hot tools very regularly. It's so frustrating!! I spend a lot of money on good shampoo and conditioner. I don't know what else I can do for myself here.
@krnadoptee I'm so so sorry. I can imagine you're feeling so sad over that. My heart breaks for you. What a senseless act of violence.
@hitcj4687 do you think some good quality hair vitamins and adding extra iron rich foods and collagen into your diet would help you? That's how I manage to regrow after the apocalypse that is my postpartum hair loss and for when I can't rely on pregnancy hormones to help me regrow what I lost from my thyroid meds/early pregnancy immune system shock.

How are you feeling:
Feeling great.
Rants / Raves:
We have two names so we will see how that goes.
