Infertility

IVF/adenomyosis

Hi Im new here and looking for some support and positivity. Im 38 YO about to turn 39. I have been seeing a fertility dr since July and became pregnant on my first consultation when he noticed I had ovulated. I was in the same visit diagnosed with adenomyosis. I did miscarry at 6 wks and it has been a journey the last few months completing my workups/labs/procedures. I am now about to undergo a surgery to remove excess tissue from adeno and do the HSG at the same time. Starting IVF after. I'm hoping for positive stories from anyone older who did the IVF process or had similar diagnosis as myself. Thanks for any words of encouragement.

It sounds like you are making progress to reaching you dream to becoming a mama. You are well on your way! I did 2 egg retrievals at 37/38yo and didn’t transfer until I was 39 yo (nearly 40yo) due to COVID. We were fortunate and successfully got pregnant with our first transfer. I believe PGT testing helped with that plus a lot of preconception prep work before the egg retrievals. I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and due at the end of February with our first child. And by no means was our journey as straight forward as it sounds. There were twists and turns and challenges throughout our fertility process. Stay hopeful and stay positive. Take your journey one step at a time. Try your best to stay healthy with nutrition and exercise and hope for an outcome that you desire. Wishing you a successful fertility journey and outcome. ❤️✨❤️
  • I have endometriosis, so not the same condition as you but similar. I did IVF at age 41. We got 4 embryos, transferred 2 and stored 2. I now have an amazing 2 week old baby boy.  For us, it worked on the first try- 1 egg retrieval, 1 transfer. Statistically that result is unlikely (I believe fewer than 20% of egg retrieval cycles result in a live birth at my age, even with multiple embryos and transfers), but it's definitely possible. Good luck!

  • Thank you! Staying positive is hard sometimes days, but your story is definitely 1 I'll go back and reread on hard days ❤️ Congrats on the incoming baby
  • This is such a positive outcome and very inspiring to read. Congratulations on your growing family ❤️❤️
  • undiagnosed medical condition called adenomyosis causes the uterine lining to develop inside the uterine muscle.  Although it is unclear whether this would alter the likelihood of getting pregnant, it is crucial to know when undergoing IVF treatments for infertility.
I'm grateful. Being optimistic can be challenging on some days, but reading this is really encouraging. Best wishes for the new baby.
