3rd Trimester

37 weeks, 6 days - labor?

Hey y’all!

I just got sent home from an overnight at L&D.
So, 4 days ago I was 4cm dilated and 80% effaced. I’ve had irregular contractions for awhile.

Anyway, I just got sent home from an overnight evaluation at L&D due to slowed contractions. I measured at 5cm dilated, 85% effaced, and baby at -1 station when they sent me home.

I had a bloody show tonight, but have had pretty minor, irregular contractions still.

Everyone is different, I know, but I’m desperate to know who has experienced similar symptoms and how long it was before they went into labor. I’m so antsy.

This is my second pregnancy, first baby was induced at 36 weeks though! So I’m a total newbie waiting for labor to happen.

Re: 37 weeks, 6 days - labor?

  • I've been induced for all my other pregnancies so I have no idea what to tell you... But we're both 37 +6 today! Hopefully we both deliver safely and soon <3 I was hoping the full moon would do it lol

  • I was too! 😂 good luck to you - I hope you and your baby can meet here soon.

No plans to induce this time??!
  • Sounds like your body is definitely working on labor. At 5cm and 85% effaced it could be a quick process. Unfortunately the unorganized prodromal labor could go on for weeks. Good luck.

  • With my fluid levels being so high I think it may end up being the case that I have to get induced... I have an appointment Wednesday to discuss everything after a maternal fetal medicine specialist ultrasound tomorrow. Good luck with everything, hopefully your little one will be here soon!

With my induction I recall my contractions were irregular even then. Sometimes a minute apart, other times 5 minutes. I had to wait for what felt like forever for them to get more consistent before they'd let me start doing some light pushing

  • Good luck to you! I hope everything goes well!!!
  • I had the bloody show on a Sunday, my water broke on that Thursday, and I gave birth a few hours later. From what I've read, people usually give birth within 2-5 days of the bloody show and that was also my experience
