I’m about 5 weeks if I calculated everything right.. just got the positive on the test today.. calling and making an appointment tomorrow. My local OB won’t see me til I’m about 8-9 weeks
My first appointment is in less than 3 weeks. They pushed the appointment foward a bit. I'll be 8 weeks by then. From what I understood, even though the appointment is a bit sooner, they won't do an US before 12 weeks anyway.
My first appointment is next week. It'll probably be just a general check in and possibly a referral for some bloodwork. I'll also have my first US, but I'll be not quite 8 weeks so it'll be transvaginal and just to confirm everything is going as it should.
This is my third time doing this in 3 years so here’s what I’ve gone through; (I’m seeing there’s differences in care depending where you are, I am in Alberta) They want to see you around 8-10 weeks. They will listen for a heart beat but it’s not always a guarantee they’ll find it. They ask if you have any questions or concerns. Give a requisition form for blood work and for a dating ultrasound. Here our ultrasounds are done in a separate clinic. They will also offer an ultrasound/blood work for the Nuchal testing which has to be done between 11 and 13 weeks to test for things like Down syndrome or heart problems. It is optional. Then you see the doctor once every 4 weeks until you hit the third trimester and start going every 2 weeks. One more ultrasound is scheduled around 20 weeks to measure growth and that’s when you can find out the gender. (If you’re pregnancy is considered high risk or multiples you would most likely have more appointments and ultrasounds).
I had one appointment with my family dr. No blood test or urine test to confirm pregnancy. No ultrasound. I was about 9 weeks then. My first ultrasound is scheduled for Feb 22. I’ll be almost 13 weeks by then. Disappointed in my care so far. I’m in Ontario and everyone I know had their first between 6-9 weeks. As I’m ending my first trimester I’m finding the lessening of symptoms difficult, esp with not having any ultrasounds or anything still.
